My boyfriend as i went and picked up my first bike yesterday. 09 zx-6r. I have absolutely no idea how to ride at all, but why be satisfied with the back of his bike when i can have my own right? hopefully im a quick learner
I'm excited for us to be able to ride together now. Luckily I can count on eager instruction from my boyfriend who is of course more then supportive.
I got a great deal on the bike from Experience Powersports, a two brothers exhaust, lowering links, and an Alpinestars jacket. I'm looking at some icon gloves and a helmet as of now.
Id super like to get my hands on a monster edition seat to put on my bike.
here's a pic of it in the truck on our way back

Picture does not work. But congrats! More girls need to ride a motorcycle, tune a car, go snowboarding, ride a bicycle, hell- even learn how to drive a manual transmission!!

Congrats on your first bike. Since this is your first bike, have you thought about taking a rider safety course? It sounds stupid, but one class can really make you feel a lot more confident on the streets. Just a thought. I took one when I first started and it was a great experience. Try it out, not too expensive and well worth the time.

Honestly, I think you should have got yourself a Ninja 650R as a first bike instead; hope all goes well...

Wow, this is going to be a great thread.
Welcome and Congrats!
Im very jelous.
I'd put money into saftey, like you said. the helmet, gloves, and also frame sliders for the bike.
Yes, Defntly an MSF course. When I took mine, half the group were women who had riden with husbands for a long time and decided to get on thier own.
best $25 I ever spent!

congrats on the new bike. im trying to get my girl to want a bike. she loves bein on the back of mine. altho i was lookin at 09 ninja 250s cuz A. i want her to be safe and not scare herself powerwise, and B. it wouldnt be right for her to have a nicer and faster bike than me now would it.
SAFETY FIRST!! spend as much time in parking lots learning slow speed maneuvering. and trusting your bike on turns. good luck and go easy with the right wrist

Helluva first bike... Be CAREFUL, you'll feel out of control at least once or twice in your learning process.
Cover your brakes, and the clutch... good luck. :

I would suggest investing in some frame sliders and would also suggest taking the MSF course. They are both worth every cent in my opinion. You didn't get a slouch for a first bike and the MSF course will deff prepare you for it. In my opinion having someone you know teach you always has the potential to go really abdly. Just my two cents though.
Congras on the purchase of a great bike. And Welcome to the Forum

welcome.. your pic desnt show...msf is must, dont just settle for your boyfriends lessons. no offense to him.heck if he hasnt taken the msf course yu guys can go together. just make sure you keep both eyes open when youre riding, im sure everyone in this forum have had too many close calls becuse of dumb cagers.
JUST A THOUGHT:
MOTORCYCLES SHOULD BE FOR GIRLS ONLY. IM TIRED OF RIDING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND HAVE SOME IDIOT (GUY) ALMOST CAUSE AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE HES BRAKING HIS NECK TO SEE MY BIKE AS HE DRIVES. sometimes i wonder if its the bike they really want to see.. they make me feel violated
