New to forum, planning on a 2010 ZX-6R
What's goin on... My name is Marv. I'm originally from northern Jersey but currently reside in Okinawa, Japan. I own a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 8 back in the states and a Nissan Silvia S15 Type S here in Japan. I'm planning on buying a bike when I get back to the states. I'm debating on the Ninja and the Gixxer. Can anyone help me make this decision?

Def the Ninja. But I am a little bias I suppose. I have owned both Kawi and Zook though and I stand behind my bias.

If Suzuki would have actually came out with redesigned and upgraded gixxers for 2010, it might have been a different story, but because they didn't, the ZX-6R is without peer at the top for 2010 without question.

I'm not really looking to MOD the hell out of the bike. Some mods I'm thinking about are HIDs if the bike doesn't come with it already and a titanium exhaust. Now I'm new to the bike world so can anyone be helpful and point me in the right direction when it comes to parts? I appreciate it fellas!

one thing when comparing bikes to cars, the difference you mods make when u add them make a much bigger difference. performance or cosmetic. its endless. just search through the forums and you'll find plenty

the most important mod you'll want to make is the exhaust, after that its all about preference of what you're looking for, such as adjustable rearsets and whatnot...oh make the exhaust most important mod #2! most important mod #1 is a fender eliminator

Do you realize how expensive titanium exhausts are?
Just get a slip on that removes the pre-exhaust chamber. Youll gain a tad of power but lose quite a bit of weight.
Fender eliminator is a must, frame sliders are a good idea as well. I've heard the x-tre is probably the best bang for your buck performance mod. Everyone that has it has said they can feel the difference over any other mod theyve done, including nearly $2000 exhaust systems, and $5-600 in power commander/autotune combinations.
I have an 09, but have yet to do the x-tre to it yet. I had already spent all my money when i heard about it...haha. i'll be getting one next year...probably when I get my taxes back :)

Hello fellow evo owner!
I got the X-TRE and it's great. It's the only mod on the bike and it sure as hell made riding around town 5x better. For around $130 it's great bang for the buck.

You should check out Dells Ninja build. Its like a 1996/2003/2006 ZX6R 636 Super Kawi. lol. You can pretty much do anything as long as money allows you to. And time. Thats really all.
You said youre new to the biker world. There is a lot to learn. Be safe on the streets. Take riding courses to learn. Get your license. Be insured. The bike will only go as fast as you open the throttle.
Mods: Frame sliders, exhaust, fender eliminator kit, windscreen. I would say those are probably the nicest looking compared to stock and most commonly done as well.
Other ones are things like rear sets, solo seat cowls, grips, bar ends, levers, signals, HIDs, integrated rear tails, rear hugger, undertail, timing module (ie PowerCommander) x-tre, air filter.
There is bunch out there. Kinda all personal preference for looks and performance.

It's all about what you like and what you are into. I, personally think the #1 mod is sliders. Anywhere and everywhere you can put a slider you put them, not just frame sliders. Only because saving your bike's ass should be first and foremost. After that it's totally up to you. I know you think you only want a few things here and there, that's what i thought too lol.
It's a very addicting and expensive hobby. But definitely worth it. If you do not have much experience then i would definitrly take a MSF rider course. trust me that course is the best thing any rider can do for themselves.
As far as which bike is better. I would pick the Ninja only because everyone and their mother owns a gixxer. Owning a ninja is almost like becoming part of a tight knit family. I've ridden many bikes, but once I rode a Ninja I became kawi for life.

Thank you all for the your informative inputs... I know what it is to become addicted to modding a toy since I've blown an insane amount of money on my Evo. I know I'll spend some money on the ninja but I'm not going to be racing it so I won't modify it too heavily.
