Just about to get started
So I'm just about ready to start getting everything on the bike (my tank came back from the shop with the wrong blue, so it should be done by Thursday).
But I was wondering if anybody knew of heat shield tape that comes in black. I see lots of it in the aluminum color, but since you can see through the fairings at the bottom, I don't want it to be seen.
Basically, I just want some added heat protection at the bottom where the headers come out. Any ideas of what I can do. I have seen high heat paint, but it usually for metal. Do you think this might work?
I'm going to give the fairings a good coat of wax this week before putting them on. I'll post pics as I go.

How much was the shipping cost? I was on their site I'm in the market for a new set of plastic myself. 340 bucks is a damn site better than 800 from nicecycle.com.

Yeah, shipping is $225 I think. So far everything seems fine, quality workmanship, no cracks, warps, or paint runs. The key is will they fit up perfectly. I'm hoping to get my tank back today or tomorrow. I'm going to start putting the rest of the fairings on this weekend, so I'll post my results.

Awesome, I think I'm going to wait until you see how yours fits before I look into ordering some.

FINALLY, I have begun to get everything bolted up.
I also waxed every piece before putting it on the bike, and in my waxing I noticed things that I previously didn't notice. I have seen a few (maybe 3 tops) places where there was some paint runs. However, they are extremely small, and all in obscure places. The point is, once the bike was bolted up, I can't even see them at all myself. I would never have seen them if I hadn't been waxing all the pieces.
Regarding the bolt up, I have all the pieces except the bottom 2 pieces, the windscreen, and the solo seat cover. I have to say, they bolt up EXACTLY like stock. I didn't have one single screw hole that was out. The only small problem is the tail light. It doesn't seem to fit exactly at the top, but with a little fixing, you'll barely notice.
I'll be back at later this week, and should have it finished real soon. I just have to get my tank back from paint, and I am all done.

Negatory. High temp paint gives you the means to paint things like exhaust and such because the PAINT can withstand the high temps. It does not protect anything FROM high temps.

I am curious to see the final product. The price isn't bad at all for a set of plastics that fit up like stock!

There's a review of Chinese-made replacement bodywork in the new issue of Motorcyclist. It basically says that for the price, you can afford to do some slight modifications to get a perfect fit.
