New Bike

Ok, so I just bought my first bike saturday. (I've previously owned dirt bikes, so i already sum what knew what i was doing when it came to driving)

But anyways, i bought a Blue 2005 ZX-6R from a friend, and some things just don't seem right to me, I was driving it home, with my dad fallowing me in his car, and First of all.. My speedo Read around 65-68 while he was doing around 55 - 60? and my Tac said i was around 4.5 - 5 grand maybe even higher while going at 65 in 6th gear? Doesn't seem right to me.

Also I have a question about what should the temp be at? Because the Reservor on the side says its right below low? and i hit 170 temp on the highway, and 190 when i went down my road at 20mph (gravel)

I'm in the same predicament as you, with the same bike, nice choice btw. I've learned so far that the speedo is off %10 from the factory so 80-85 is around 70-75. Your tac is right on for stock gears, mine reads 7K at 83ish and your temp is good mine stays around 160 until I ride for awhile then it will gradually go up to 170-180 and maybe 190ish when at a stop light or going slow.

speedohealer.com is where you can look it up

actually, I found out from my dyno guy that the stock tach is anywhere from 500-1500 rpms off from the factory.
