zx6r weird sounds?

Noob question and im new to the forums
But when I ride my bike it sounds like the pistons are SLAMMING against the heads. It gets to a point where its so loud i can barley hear the wind.

I dont know what it could be a shop said "we can syncronize the throttle bodies to eliminate clutch noise but it wont effect the noise while riding"

And no one in any shop can seem to tell me what the heck the noise is!!!

I was thinking maybe its a compression problem or a spark plug is miss-firing.

If its the 2nd one can anyone tell me if i need a special wrench for the plugs? and where they are located? Im 99% sure its located under the gastank and stuff...It happened 1000 miles after an oil change.Ive been using the same oil every change so i dont think thats it...

If anyone could help that'd be great!

welcome to the forum bud!! I have the same problem. I have a ticking sound in my head, but its not near as bad as yours from the way ur describing it. I have had two shops tell me two different things: One said its my valves needing adjusting. The other said: Injectors. I only have 6k on an 06 ZX6R. I am gonna get my head rebuilt this winter and have the motor gone completley through. Kawi's are NOISEY first off, but I'm super anal bout my machines and worry bout everything. If you've ever heard a ZX7 run, it sounds like its bout ready to blow up, but its normal. PM if ya need some guidance on this issue.

why are you having the head rebuilt with such low miles?

the kawi tick is usually something to do with the valvetrain. does it run ok?or does it have an erratic idle and screwed up throttle response? If so, have the cam chain tensioner checked seeing as how that's one of the most common things to go wrong. how many miles are on it? any other symptoms?

just broke 13k mileage

no messed up throttle response but idle goes from 750-1k sparaticly

other things is there is alot of clutch noise but i already know how to fix that.
was just answering your question. and thanks for the help guys!

i tried putting the fuel injector cleaners in my gas.
we will see what happens.

Im crossing my fingers that it needed a better type of oil and the injectors just got dirty!

It's hard to tell without hearing it in person but I will tell you that your idle is set too low. You are supposed to be idling at 1250-1300rpm. As for the noises...it may be the famous Kawi tick but, like I said, without hearing it in person it is hard to say. If it is a "slamming sound" then you definitely have a serious problem. If it is just a tick and the bike runs fine, I would bet you're OK. I can't tell if your description is exaggerated or not. Good luck.

it ticks in low idle every shop i went to said 750-1k idle is what it should be at and no higher.it goes between the two rpms during idle because the throttle body idlers need to be synced "said a shop mechanic".let me tell you there is no exageration on the noise.but it has gone down since the fuel injector cleaner has gone through it but it still makes the noise and the ticking is getting worse.

when i twist the throttle open really fast (when im not riding just at a stop in neutral) i hear a snap like if my chain was loose on the bike and i tried to wheelie itd go SNAP but this noise is coming from inside the engine.

manual says about 1250 rpm for idle. And there is no way to sync the throttle body idlers. it's one screw that controls a rod that goes through all of the throttlebodies. that snap is probably a combo of the play in your chain and transmission.. Do you do a lot of wheelies? wheelies destroy engine and drivetrain parts if done to much.

its idling at 1k-13k rpms because it wont stay at one smooth idle. the sync thing is what the owner of a shop told me so im just saying what i hear from them. I did my fair share of trying to do wheelies about 2 times. got it up and let it down and havent done them since but it didnt make that noise after them either.he said that the cam tension chain or w/e might need to be adjusted. but it cant be the actual chain chain because it makes the snapping noise while not in motion.

I'm gonna just go ahead and make one correction. I'm sure you meant the idle should be somewhere around 1250 rpm not 12500 rpm.

haha yeahp woops. well since i ran some injector cleaner through it.its gotten kind of healthier. it doesnt sound like shes gunna blow up now.just sounds like she wants to seize haha. and why did kawasaki make it such a pain in the a** to put coolant into the 05 zx6r?... oh well... now all to do is check the cam tension chain.

haha thanks. just realized I put one to many 0 in there.

they make things hard to get to so that the customer doesn't try to work on their own bike. more money for the dealer. Although I have seen some serious design flaws before
