it doesn't look like it. holes are clean and it doesn't look like there was anything in between where he drilled. i did the system check and it came back with #39. the book says that is "39 ECU communication error"...i have no idea what that means

Wow Was he intoxicated while he was working on your bike? Looks like a shitty job. Most likely he hit something because where he drilled is in the same vicinity as the ECU. You could be looking at a hefty price tag to fix that. Does your friend own a business? If so, I would like to make sure I stay away from it.

Disconnect your ECU and inspect.

So.... what's that box with the red/gold sticker on it that he drilled through?

My guess is that it's the ECU.

A code indicating "No Communication" means the scan tool can't talk to the module.

IF there is no apparent damage to the outside of the module I.E. Big azz holes drilled in it, grab a voltmeter.

Test and make sure that there is good power and ground to the module.

Do you have spark? Are your injectors Pulsing?

IF there's good power and a good ground source to the module, but no operation, the module is bad.

doesn't look like he drilled through anything but then again he might have. we both checked to see if anything was there and it seemed like there was nothing between the plastic. and i looked through both the holes that went all the way through it doesn't seem as though anything was there but plastic. i have spark and everything. it acts as if there is no gas the starter goes and everything but nothing happens.

edit: is there anything i can do to get it running for a few days before i take it to the the shop to see if i need a new part?

the guys are right. you're friend is an idiot and drilled straight through the ECU. there is no way to get the bike to run without it. looks like your friend owe's you a little over $900. FYI to everyone! NEVER EVER drill from the outside without knowing what's on the other side. If you're unsure, take it off and drill it...

Lumian not to sound like a dick but you should have searched the forum before doing this. Do any of you remember, Im not sure if it was this forum or another, but a guy not to long ago wanted to do the same exact thing. He asked if he could do this with no problems and people responded informing him that if he did this he could possibly hit the ecu. Looks like they were right.
