What are problems with the 07/08 models?
I've heard from someone on this forum that there are some general problems that are new to the 07/09 zx6r. Anyone know what these problems are? I've heard this more than just here.

another common problem is the blinker fluid leaks... thats an expencive fix too, you have to take it to an alternator shop.

the blinker fluid was a gay joke.
the 07 zx6r is a great bike.
just have some minor issues with it.
nothing major.

I figured it was a joke, know a few mechanics that use that as an excuse/joke to charge more money. More was replying because he rides the 07 SE. So the 07 is better than trying to get an 08?
Anyone know if there is any major changes coming in the 09 model year?

My muffler bearings lost exhaust pressure and caused the air box to explode.
kawi said it was not covered under warranty because I used Akra bearings instead of original kawi bearings.
I have contacted an attorney (magnesson - moss) act.

if you can get the 07 cheaper than 08 get it but make sure it is brand new and has warranty. the 07 is known for developing a loud ticking noise due to defective internal engine parts. some people had their bike fixed then later the problem resurfaced because the stealership ordered the same defective version.
the 08 model is famous for valve cover gasket issue. oil leaks through that defect.
the zx6r is only 90 hp or so compared to the cbr, r6, gixxer which are atleast 100 hp.
buy a cbr 600rr

You really recommend getting something other than a zx6r for a first bike?

All it takes is the jumper mod and the zx6r is back up with every other 600cc bike. Not to mention that a 4-5hp deficit over the other bikes means under 5 tenths of a second difference in the quarter mile times. With that being said I think I would rather have the bike with the best handling compared to the r6, cbr, or gixxer. The zx-6r is the best choice if you dont need to be the fastest bike on the road by inches.

Would it be best to find one under warranty?
Not sure how I can find one under warranty with the modifications I'd want but can't afford. Like custom exhaust and somehow streamline that backend so the tag isnt hanging way low and looking a bit like a tool.
Any ideas?

I have given a new cbr 600 rr a run for its money a couple of weeks ago.
Not that much difference. With us it was about dead even with me starting to pull him a little on top end.

Finding one under warranty would be a good idea, but if you are looking to mod your bike, or want a bike with mods then the warranty wouldnt matter
I made my own undertail by taking off that enitre ugly plastic piece that the plate and registration light were connected to. Then I just bolted my plate onto that black metal piece with the 2 hooks on each end. It actually looks like it was made to hold the plate. I was going to just leave the registration light off but decided I would use it, but I dont think it is necessary.
