Key stuck in the ON position.... please help.

Well..... my key can NOT twist to the left and go to the OFF position. This is my only form of transportation in SF and school just started and it broke last night. The only way that I am driving it and parking it with out someone just riding off with it (lol) while in the ON position the key can be pushed and turned to the right (clockwise) and that locks the steering all the way left and you can pull out the key but the parking lights are still on this is the ACC mode. SOoooOOOoooOOOooo for a temp. fix i wired up a switch to turn off those parking lights so I can still park the bike and take the keys out without killing the battery. BUt I would like to fix this whole problem cause its a pain in my freakin ass! if you actually read this whole thing and understand my shitty writing i give you some mad props. if you can help OMG please help.... lol.. THanks guys. And yes I used WD40 alot.... nothin. any Q's ask away

short of taking the key column off and taking it apart to see what the deal is, i'd say your only other option is to check egay or something like it and buy a new key column...i don't think they cost too much, but i don't know how your wallet looks....sorry dude, that does blow!!!

this is probably a really stupid suggestion, but have you tried pushing the key in a little bit before turning it? I'd try and spend 5 minutes just jiggling it in every possible way-- I had a similar problem with my old suzuki sv650s, after a few minutes of key jiggling I got it to turn to the left and come out. I'd say take it to a shop ASAP, if I understood this post right anyone could walk up, sit on it, flip the engine switch and ride away.

ya i jiggled it for about 30 min. i am mechanical and im a good problem solver. but this just stumped me. i just bought a new ignition assembly for a total of 100 bucks.... blows but.. that means i owe my ma some more money... greeat.

remember i can take the key out in the ACC position and i made a switch to turn off the parking lights. so no one can ride it without the keys.

how hard is it to take the key column out?
