anyone hear of this prob 05 zx6r

Alright so my bike has this problem. It has had for a few months been in and out of shop since then. same b.s. them telling me its fixed and they found a problem. and it still breaking down on me. So after about an hour and half of riding my FI light starts flickering at me and bike starts losing power violently then eventually shuts off wont restart unless i turn the key off and then back on. i havent been able to pull up the codes cause supposedly they reset every time you turn the key off. which doesnt make much since to me. they have tried duplicating it with no luck, on the dynoes that is. and all they have told me was they pulled up an inlet air temp sensor which i think is a load of crap considering the code resets. does anyone have any info are has anyone experienced this before. the bike shop is telling me that this is a problem consistent with these models.

Just a guess, but you may have a fuel pump problem. There may an inconsistent malfunction of the pump, there may be a clog in the lines, shit in the tank, or something. My reason in thinking that is when you turn the key off and back on, the fuel pump primes and if you are out riding around for a while and it is acting up then maybe something is blocking or stalling the flow of fuel. Just a guess but I am no mechanic. I would suggest riding it around your neighborhood until it acts up again and then push the thing home without turning it off and trying to pull the codes if that is possible. Good luck.

so after an HOUR of riding (normal operation) it dies on you.... here's what u check...
service codes.... they will stay in ur computer.. if not.. the battery is dead in ur computer... should be a back up battery in there sumwhere... next check for continuity of the wiring for the DFI system... all fuse's, wireing connections, relays..
use a digital meter when checkin the DFI parts..(for voltage and/or resistance)
.. test your battery for proper voltage.. if lower than 12V then its toast... get a new one.. DO THE BATTERY FIRST BEFORE replacing any DFI PARTS..k
next..hmmm...
measure coil winding resistance when the DFI PART is cold
be careful when checking the DFI parts.. they are very delicate...
check wireing and connections from the computer to the DFI parts .. use a analog tester to do this instead of a digital tester
make sure all connections in the circuit are CLEAN and TIGHT...
check wires for burns... fraying .
most of this is from my 636 manuel.. check all connections is the moral of the story...lol
good luck dude...
let me know if this helps... or if u need i can supply a couple of pages from my manuel...
