"OK. There is the pre-2003 zx6r which is now the zzr (599cc). In 2003-2006 they had the zx6R and the zx6RR. The zx6R is the 636cc. The zx6RR is the 599cc. The 2003-2004's are the same just different colors. The 2005-2006's are the same just different colors. Both versions (03-04, 05-06) were redesigned from the ground up so their is not going to be much, if anything, that is going to be interchangable between the two. However, with the 03-04 zx6R and zx6RR, other than the engine and suspension are pretty much the same bike. The plastics, the frame, the wheels, brakes, exhaust, etc. are all the same. The same goes for the 05-06 zx6R and zx6RR. The zx6RR in those years have a different, more track friendly suspension. From what I hear, the 03-04 models of both the zx6R and the zx6RR are more track oriented (aggressive ergos, stiffer suspension, not as comfortable on the street) but the RR is even more track oriented. The 05-06 are kinda the same way. The zx6RR is more track friendly than the zx6R. Not saying that the 05-06 zx6R is no good on the track, just that I have heard a lot of guys putting the zx6RR suspension on their zx6R. Once, you've got your suspension set up on the zx6R then your are sitting another 36cc you can use. I have an 05 zx6R, and I have to say that having the extra 36cc is awesome on the street. 36cc doesn't sound like much but I think it makes a hell of a difference in the midrange. I am sure there is a bit that I missed but I gotta go, let me/us know if you have anymore questions. That is why we are here."

Thanks for all the imfo I got the 2003/6RR with 11000 miles, it came with a helment, jacket, and gloves. It also had -2 on the front sproket and it rides way different than the 2001/6r that i had in 2001. What kind of deal did I get paying $4000 for it, had a few guys look it over for me and they couldnt beleave that it was a 2003 model, it is real clean and rides amazing! THANKS AGAIN GUYS

do yourself a favor and sell the helmet that it came with and buy a new one. you never know what's happened to somebody elses gear. Plus it's broken in to someone elses head shape and gross sweat. other than that, sounds like a killer deal

thanks SLIDER for the imfo I been away from bikes for a long time and like I said my last 1 was a 2001 and the weight and handling difference is way different than I remember. had a 1999 TL1000S before the 2001zx6r and it was like driving a tank had tons of power but weighted way to much for me.

no prob man. #1 rule for riding, always wear the proper gear. A TL1000S eh... those things are tanks. Bet you're glad you made the switch

No, it's standard shifting unless you change it to reverse/gp. The other thing to mention is that the 03-04 zx6RR's are actually pretty rare and hard to find. I don't know the exact numbers but I want to say that there were only like 2000 RR's shipped to the states or something like that. So, in some circles the RR is the more desirable find. $4000 doesn't sound that bad, especially if it is in great condition. I would definitely buy a new helmet though. Take the one that came with the bike and use it as a passenger helmet (clean the liner first) or hang it on the wall for decoration. You want a helmet that YOU bought for YOU because it fit YOU perfectly. A single drop can compromise the integrity of a helmet and you don't know where the used one has been. And with all the sweaty nastiness soaked into that liner...eeewwwwww. (Does that read too girly? Sorry.)

"a shorter stroke, lighter crank, forged pistons and a back-torque limiter for the clutch. On the chassis front, the racer gets an adjustable swingarm pivot and the optional race kit offers a whole bunch of tuning parts, including a programmable ECU." bikepoint.com
tasty magnesum bits for the engine.
plus its limited edition. only 2000 of them.
 for the new lid
