Newbie tire question

Hi everyone, new to this forum, there seem to be a lot of cool & intelligent riders on here. I have an '07 650R that's my daily ride, I recently picked up a cheap '95 ZX600E for a winter fix-up project. My question is, does anyone know if a 180/55/17 tire will work on the back of the '95 ZX600? CycleGear has a good deal on tires but not on the 170/60/17 size that's on there now. I've done some searching for info, & ordered a user manual & service manual for the 600 but they're not here yet. I'd like to put some decent rubber on the ZX600 & ride it a bit this fall before I start tearing it apart.

TIA.

Edit: Yes, I know that a 180 on the back of a 600 is overkill & marginally stupid, just trying to take advantage of a cheap deal on tires so I can get the bike inspected & tagged to make it street legal. I'd be perfectly happy with a 160 like my 650R.

it wont dip into corners as quickly as the 170. but you shouldnt notice it that much.

good luck

What part of STL are you from? My 95 zx6r came with 190 tire in the rear so the 180 will definately fit.

My old bike was a 94' zx600e, and although I don't know what will and won't work for your bike I thought I would direct you to another forum. There are lots of people here to help you out and offer advice but if you go to zx6e.net its all about that bike. There are a bunch of people all over the country and canada that know everything there is to know about the E. The guys here are good and some may be really well familiar with the E but zx6e.net is all about it so check it out.
