quick question
so I have a 2006 zx6, i just went to pick up a new tire and realized that i grabbed a 190/50 instead of the 180 on accident. I kind of want to put the 190 on it now....I dont do track riding, and I like to take corners but Im still fairly new at riding so im not going to be dragging knees. Do you guys think ill be fine with the 190? I think it would look pretty cool too...
btw its a pirelli corsaIII

I wouldn't. Even if you aren't experienced, a 190 will actually be harder to lean and you will have more trouble. I would return it. And also. Buy a 180/55 Michelin Pilot Power. Amazing tire and great for twisties!!! And putting a 190 on a 600 is a noob maneuver! : just my .2 cents!

it all depends on what type of riding you do and are you going to adjust your suspension. When people put 190's on 600's they do it to increase the contact patch when leaned over but they use the 190-55-17 tho. I would return it because it will slow your turn in on your bike and it is more expensive too! btw the corsa 3's are great!!

you need a 6" wheel to run a 190 properly. 600's only come with a 5.5".

There are no problems with fitting a 190 on a 5.5 inch rim, this is what roadracing world did on their shootout and also what most racers use. But if you are to do it stick to a 190/55 not a 190/50 or you will really slow your turn in.
before with stock 180/55

after with BT003 190/55

I new one of you was gonna say something... If you look at what I wrote, I said you need a 6" wheel to run a 190 properly. "Properly being the key word. Didn't say you couldn't do it. It won't hurt anything, but it's pointless. You don't gain any more traction except for that extra 5mm on each side of the tire. If you think you need that extra 5mm, get a race tire. Putting a 190 on a 5.5" wheel changes the profile of the tread and sidewall, not to mention more weight and tire height(changing the suspension geometry). It was designed for a 6" wheel. By the way, most racers are running forged aluminum or mag wheels. They usually come in a 6" wheel depending on the maker. Try not to believe that everything in the magazines and what racers do is the correct way of doing things.

Everything that you said is correct, I agree it is not the proper size rim for the tire, but many people do use it and like it (it's probably more mental). Quite a few AMA 600 S.S. racers were running the 190/60 GPA's on 5.5" rears last season with very good results, but like you said these are DOT race tires. Dunlop has not even developed a 180 DOT race tire in the 209 N-Tech or the new 211 N-Tech. Sorry for hijacking your thread mlo

good point. but at the same time the 600ss class have been completely dialed in on suspension and chassis in order to run that tire. Plus they have the HP to spin a heavier tire and still be competitive. Kinda makes you wonder why they haven't developed the 209 in a 180 yet, just about everybody else has. didn't mean to get on your case. There are a lot of people on here that will take what you say and do it without knowing what they are actually doing. Then they complain that their bike feels funny.
