Angry Valve Cover Leaking San Diego Dealership

Hey everyone, unfortunately I have the leak now at 2400 miles. I noticed it about a week ago when I started smelling burnt oil on the freeway, didn't figure it was coming from my bike, but I knew about the notorious bad valve gasket on our bikes. So I checked and now it's pretty bad to where I'm afraid to get it on my rear tire when I'm riding.

So, I need to get it serviced and I'm not sure if I'm still under warranty. Also, I bought the bike brand new over at House of Motorcycles in El Cajon, San Diego. Do I have to take it to a Kawasaki dealer or can I just take the bike where I bought it from (House of Motorycles)? I'm not aware of any Kawasaki dealers in San Diego. I guess I should also recommend they use the new gasket part number #11061-0378.

Thx

I developed a leak on my '06 ten around 6000 miles i think. i bought a new gasket and some honda gasket sealer. i did it myself and changed the plugs while the bike was apart. it took me about 9 hours. it was my first time doing anything like that though. i'm at 15k now. no problems since.

Fun bike center, off of kearny villa rd. is an authorized kawi dealership. That's where I bought my '07 zx6r. Also, unless you bought an extended warranty, the factory warranty is only 12 months.

brought the bike in to house of motorcycles and they didn't have the new part number in their computer. The guy said he'd look into it so hopefully he'll call kawisaki or something and get it done right the first time.. Just be careful everyone, not everyone is up to date.

From what I hear, House of Motorcycles are really good at service on all bikes. Just a typical dealership when it comes to selling though.

I hate dealerships. Always after that extra buck. I hope they all catch VD.

Why don't you purchase the valve cover from kawasaki then have the house of motorcycles do it. It's easy to change out the valve cover gasket, just do it yourself.

yeah i wouldn't mind doing that if I didn't have to pay for it. But I called at let them know about the new part number and they have it on order. My bike should be done by Tues or Wed. Their service is pretty good at House..
