Arrow Jumper Mod Facts Revealed!!

If you are reading this you are well aware of the famous jumper mod that can be done on the 05-08 ZX6R's. If you don't know about it you have been living in a box! j/k...

Now that I've done more research on it looking at other dyno charts I'm 99.99% sure it's ignition timing advance at 13,000 rpm and up. We already knew it opened the exhaust valve in the upper rpm's. Probably why they had to retard the timing to reduce building up too much backpressure in the exhaust. Here's my proof. Look at these two different dynos comparing the before and after the jumper mod. Notice how the power curves are exactly the same and then you get the continuing slope after 13k and up. The air/fuel ratio is unchanged on the i-hacked dyno proving it's only an ignition advance. In the meantime here are the two different charts and a post from an R6 forum. (proof that they are spying on us kawis! )

The famous i-hacked website dyno w/ 636. Check out the air/fuel before and after. Unchanged. The power curve prior to 13,000 rpm. Unchanged.

A post from an R6 forum...

Just for the records, the ECU mod adds about 7hp and this has been proven on Louie's dyno Lloyd! The story behind the Kawi's is the the US spec 6RR and 6R's timing are retarded an "X" amount of degrees. With the ECU mod, you're just bringing the timing back. The stock 636 dyno'd at 107hp, less than 5 mins later, with the jumper in place, reran it on Louie's dyno and peaked at 114hp.

My buddy's 6RR dyno'd 103hp on pump gas with a full system, PCIII, ignition advancer. He did the ecu jumper mod and threw it back on the dyno and gain 7hp just just from the mod pushing it to 110hp for a 6RR! Not too shabby.

B4 the ecu jumper=103

After the ecu jumper=110

Check out the top portion of the dyno sheet on the first run. Then check out the top end after the jumper mod. Notice how it peaks more instead of flattens out.

The reason why this won't work on a Yamaha or any other bike is because the timing is already advanced. Unless someone can crack open the ECU and find a way then they can prove me wrong.

Again, the same exact slope until 13,000 rpm. If fuel/air was affected, then we wouldn't have the same power curve. Proof that it is only ignition timing advance and not a hidden fuel map in the ECU.

Finally, here's a comparison between SLIDER's dyno map and mine. We basically have almost the same setup.

SLIDER has the jumper mod "activated"

Now here is my dyno without the jumper mod... Hmmm It seems to flatten out a little at top end while SLIDER's slope is steadily rising...

Oh and look... A 6-7 HP difference between the two dyno charts. I wonder why that is...

So jumper mod or not you are still running the stock fuel mapping regardless if you have a PCIII or not. The PCIII manipulates fuel delivery based on what the injector is putting out already.

I already said this but my guess is since they had to install the exhaust valve to limit the noise they also had to retard the timing.

I hope this was helpful and cleared up some confused minds!

I have never heard about any of this. What is this jumper mod you speak of? Will it work on an 05 zx6r? Is it expensive?

Just messin'. There have been so many threads about what the jumper mod does and doesn't do and how and why and blah blah blah. What I do know is that when I did it on my bike I could feel a difference and a smoother top end. The new fuel map thing is a first for me. Never heard that one before. I always heard that the jumper sets it to run on Euro settings. What that meant, I never got a clear answer. Advances timing?...good enough for me.

Well we can definetly sell some jumper mod kits to those people for $200.
I already might start selling paperclips shaped in a U and directions for the instal on Ebay. THe ad will say "ADD 7HP to your 05-08 ZX6R!"
When the envelope comes and they find a paperclip inside they will be like WTF? I wonder if I can get in trouble for that...

Well the thing I don't get is if all other brand bikes have their ignition advanced normally and the ZX6R is the only one that isn't. The comparison testers should have engaged the jumper mod or tested the european version instead. 90% of the magazines out there bitched about the ZX6R being underpowered when in fact was the only bike there with the ignition timing retarded a set amount of degrees. I don't get how the kawasaki techs think the ZX6R is too loud. Removing the exhaust valve and hooking up the jumper mod does not make it that much louder.

Do you think we can seriously get in trouble selling these "kits" and install directions on ebay? I was thinking about charging $49.99.

Ok, so on an '08 ZX6r with gutted stock cat and gutted stock muffler with a removed butterfly valve, it looks like the AFR only needs to be made richer under 8k?

Since from what I understand these bikes make the most power from a 13.5 AFR or so, then it looks like the factory mapping gets lean below 8K I am assuming?

Are those maps above completely stock bikes or are they bikes with exhaust and stock fuel mapping (no pcIII)?
