n00b with a question

hello everyone, new member here. i purchased an 06 636 with 10,000 miles in early may.

i absolutely love it! my first crotch rocket, i had a beater honda 400 to learn how to ride on the street, and had dirt bikes growing up bla bla bla. for anyone curious about my name, i also have a gas guzzlin 383 LT1 z28 6speed which pushed me to purchase a bike. LT1MAN is my name on all the forums i am on.

but anyway i just wanted to introduce myself and ask my n00b question.

i just rode the bike to the beach (180 miles one way) this weekend for 4th of july with my buddy on his gsxr 1000. but when i got back yesterday afternoon i noticed that my taillight was sitting in there kinda funny. so i messed with and evidently all the screws in it vibrated out! now i can't imagine that im the only person this has happened to, so i wanted to ask if anyone has experienced this, and maybe can someone provide a little guidance as to how to access the area to where the tail light mounts. im at work right now im gonna fix it when i get home but i would love to have some kind of idea as to where to start. i assume i probably have to take the muffler off and some of the undertail panels maybe. idk, any help would be greatly appreciated.

ive been trolling on here for a lil while now, i love this site, great info, and lots of smilies omg the best selection ive seen on any forum

Well I had a 05, same bike. Never messed with the tail section though. I Would assume you might have to take off the rear fairing to access the bolts and such.

dumped is right on this one. taking the tail fairing off will allow full access to the tail light. I don't think you can get to the light if you take the muffler off. the frame would be in the way.

You gotta take the whole tail off. The passenger seat first, then the black side panels under the front seat, then the seat, then the button clips under the left side passenger seat, then all of the screws in the tail fairing, don't forget to unplug the taillight before removing fairing. That should get you down to it to figure out a fix.

If you have anymore problems getting things apart let me know and I will hook you up with some literature when I get home.

thank you shifty that was exactly what i was looking for. im familiar with most of what you described. i've had the seat off and the tank swiveled up to replace the driver side black panel under the seat (was boogered up when i bought it).

thanks for the compliments too!
