NJNinja...did you take the MSP course? The basics get drilled into you and you wouldn't have made a lot of the rookie mistakes I'm hearing. Also...after one beer...no matter the height, weight is enough to begin impairment. Guess what...you do not need balance to drive a car but you sure as hell need your senses about you to ride a bike.

Is a slipper clutch supposed to help this?

i am just like you when it comes to a car and I know its stupid.

But on the bike I dont even think about it. I dont want a reason to be pulled over. I wont even stop at a bar to see a friend in fear of being pulled over.

You need to wake up. Get new friends that will chip in for helping destroy it.

fyi... i got some really good friends, just very bad luck... I've already collected over $200 for repairs, even from guys that had nothing to do with it.. they just saw it happen and felt bad... the guy that originally dropped it bought me really nice sliders...
Well, here's some pics....

just both lower fairings, and one middle.... I got back on it today, rode for a few hours to get my confidence back... im all good....
then i stopped at a bar, had 4 beers, and rode home on one wheel....

Yo Sak. Your sliders should be in tomorrow. Swing by, we'll throw em on.

Third day, I fuckin have 2 beers at the fire works show in redbank, and then start riding my shit around the block, doin about 20-40. I was commin in on final aproach into my friends street, when i accidently down shifted violently while leaning. Rest is history .... thank god for all my protective gear... saved my shoulder, elbow and head.... I was wearin shorts so both my knees got fuct up.
As for my bike, Its at my friends house in his garage right now, both side fairings thrashed, gear shifter bent in, and a slightly cracked front fairing. I guess it couldv been much worse.
Now i got the day tomorrow to drink a lot of beer to numb the pain and order shit online.
Isn't this when the slipper clutch is supposed to kick in to avoid these situations??

I think it comes in to play if you hit the clutch downward by accident, not causing too much force, NjNinja stated that he "down shifted violently", I'm not sure if it was supposed to shift, but I'm sure if enough pressure or force was applied to the shift lever, it would shift w/o clutching. I'm no mechanic and have no clue of the mechanics of a clutch and shifter, but just from riding and driving manual, it seems to me that the clutch just makes it easier to change gears and not fuck up the gear plates (is this an actual part? ) and transmission.

a slipper clutch aka back torque limiting clutch is designed to match engine speed with rear wheel speed when down shifting. It was aimed more toward racing to help with rear wheel hop and skid when under heavy decceleration. the 07-08 zx6r has an adjustable slipper clutch so that you can custom tune it to a riders weight and riding style. Keep in mind that it is also aimed at a higher rpm range and still locks up at low rpm's due to a lack of force. Tire temperature and suspension setup also play a huge role in how effective the slipper clutch is. So don't just go banging the gears down and popping the clutch. Always blip the throttle...

unfortunately it's not externally adjustable. You have to buy the shim kit from kawasaki's performance catalogue. Then you actually have to get into the clutch and change the shims...it kinda sucks. Most people don't need to adjust the slipper unless you're a podium finishing racer...

I'm definatly not gonna be racin any time soon, but I'm thinkin about lowering my bike 1.25", with the "vortex" links, and softening the suspension a little bit... my bike from what i learned is very unforgiving.... lowering and softening the damper suposably makes it a lot more newbie friendly... is this true or are my sources full of shit???

Personally I'm not touching the suspension until it has time to Settle a little bit. Any bike is going to be stiff from factory...

I think the zx-6r is kind of forgiving, I don't have much experience with any other manufacture, but I've made plenty of mistakes and I should have been helmet down on asphalt.

I don't recommend lowering your bike. it changes the geometry and throws off the handling and ground clearance. Plus it's a pain in the ass. If you're under 170 lbs, yes the new zx6 is a pogo stick and takes about 1500 miles to break in the suspension. I'm only 145 lbs and I had to respring the rear to an 8.5(stock is 9.6) in order to bring it into the adjustment range. Don't go playing around with all of your settings trying to make things softer and more comfortable. You will only screw things up. The suspension needs to be set to your weight and riding style for maximum performance or what gives the tires their best grip.If you're that worried or uncomfortable, have it professionally adjusted.

tru, I'm comming up on my 500 mile mark soon... when i have it serviced, ill talk with the dude and tell him to make all the nessesary adjustments.
Other than that, i had the bike checked out today when i went in to get my plates, the guy rode my bike and said that everything is fine... my sliders came in today, and the fairings should be in tomorrow.. I also order some carbon fiber stickers to replace the chrome ones, and some carbon mirrors to replace my scratched up ones.. I'll post some pics when my shits all patched up...
