Oh mate I feel for you! Like you said at least you were geared up, I always wonderd why at Motorcycle training we dont get to see a few pics like yours as an example of what can happen when riding,, gear or no.
get well soon.

The funny thing is, I bring my crash gear to work. It helps me sell gear. The worst part is, I have a lot of friends that have seen me after I've crashed and they get scared and gear up for about a month. Then they go back to riding in shirts, pants, and low top shoes.

Thanks for posting this, we really should sticky a thread for the new guys to show what happens when you go down.
Out of all of my friends I'm the only one who wears a jacket and Armour every time I ride and I think its because they choose to ignore the few times they see injuries like these.
Good luck to both you guys on getting better and thanks for the thread, I'm buying a suit and boots ASAP .

So yesterday I was out ridin in the 90 degree, 100% humidity weather. I only own 1 jacket, and it is a black leather icon timax 2. Talk about hot! So I decide to buy a shirt (because I only had a wife beater on under the jacket) and dump the jacket for about an hour, the sun was going down and it was going to get cooler. I was going to pick it up after the heat settled down. So I'm driving down the road and hit some moderate traffic, no big deal, I'm not splitting lanes like I usually do (which is illegal in this area). So anyways, I'm crusin', doin about 15 - 20 mph in the left lane, all of a sudden some wrench decides to merge in my lane. This happened so quickly I didn't know what to do, I was going to try to rev the engine so she could here me but there wasn't enough time for that. Usually when people start to merge in the same lane that I am in, they see me before the get all the way over and quickly swerve back, not this time. I had no other option but to brake, I was so close to getting knocked to kingdom come, I braked hard as sh!t using the front brake. Next thing I know I'm sliding on on the side of my face and the back of my shoulder dragging along. WORST experience ever! All I could think about is I want to stop sliding! My skin was ripping off! So after I stop, I get up as quickly as I could and I see the wrench break, but I guess when she saw me get up, I was ok and kept goin... WTF! I went to the hospital where they cleaned my rash and gave me a tetanus shot and took some x-rays. Other than the rash, I'm fine and a little bruised up.
My point, I would have been a lot better if I just sweated my balls off in my jacket, then not having one at all...
sorry, my crack was showing...

oh yeah... that's what I meant. My brain didn't quite click on that one, lol. Unfortunately, crashing is part of riding. It happens to some people more than others. I've been down on the street to many times now and it's starting to hurt the wallet, along with my body. I'm sticking to the track for a while.

OK... I'm finally out of the boot and walking. It's a little painful, but I've been through worse. Even better is that I finished the bike for the time being. All it needs now is a dyno tune and readjust the suspension. I got a new swingarm off of ebay.I repaired the dent in the tank myself. I mounted the race plastics along with some new BT002 tires. And finally finished the paint last weekend. The paint is the duplicolor car paint from kragen. I used a flat black and finished it off with a clear coat. It came out to be more of a charcoal. I got to ride it around the block the other day. It felt kinda weird since I dropped about 30lbs off of it. would've taken more pics but the battery died.Enough of my babbling, here it is
Amazing what you can get done when you're injured...I'll take some video of it being dyno'd in a couple weeks

Good to see the motivation to get back on the bike. I definetly see a lot of time invested in it. Let me know how the dyno turns out, I'm very interested in checking out the graph. Did you look into getting insurance for the bike yet?

I will never stop riding, I just have to keep it off the streets. I'll post the dyno charts as soon as I get them. It's got liability on it right now, but even if I get full coverage they won't cover it on the track.

did you like the red/ black color scheme or the charcoal better. I'm all healed. I just need to get my muscle back.

the red/black.
flat paint is the hot ticket right now, so the charcoal looks good.
how'd you fix the tank? fiberglass filler? or hammered through the gas cap?
looks good.

I've gotten really good at using fiberglass and reforming. I actually used body filler for the tank seeing as how it's metal. basically the same thing though. I would've kept the red/black color scheme, but I seem to crash things that have red on them. Plus I always wanted a blackish bike. goin for the whole stealth thing, lol
