I made my own. It mounts right in front of your tire to the undertail. Take the stock license plate mounting bracket and bolt it to the undertail. bolt the license plate to it by the bottom mounting points. get a "stopper" light. It has a running light, brake, and blinkers in 1 bar. get 2 "L" brackets and bend slightly. You will probably have to drill new holes toward the bend so that you can mount the stopper light. mount the stopper light below the license plate and you're done. be sure to mount it high enough that it won't hit the tire.

Another way...

That sounds like a pretty effective way of eliminating the whole (slightly obtrusive) rear setup. But if you're just looking to eliminate the fender itself, then you could do what I did and make a license plate bracket that bolts on to those 4 fender bolts (with a few cheap parts and some spray paint from your local OSH or Home Depot). Here's some pics...

Oh, and FYI the illumination from the brakelight lights up the plate somewhat decently...though I'm still contemplating getting a license plate LED light.

Hope this helps...

I kept the wire to the socket and elec taped the socket end, then taped it to an inconspicuous location in the tail area.

I have seen cruisers with license plate bolts that actually are directional lights, so I plan on stopping in at a couple of local area shops to see what I can find and hopefully get legal again.

I don't do much riding at night, but at the same time, those are usually the times I don't want to give them a reason to pull me over.

License plate light...

Yeah, you can actually disconnct the light from underneath the drivers seat. Thats where all the rear lights are plugged in. It takes a little bit of disassembling, but thats the fun part right?

Oh, and yeah the license plate light bolts were going to be my next purchase as well. You can find them for around 16-18 bucks on ebay. Until then, my brakelight lights it up pretty well...

It might help you. First item on:
http://www.fourstrokesonly.com/LicensePlateLights.html.

I did something similar to BJOHNZX6R with the bracket. The light has glue on top so you can stick it to the bottom of the rear light...and secure with licence plate.
Holds well for the last 4 months…

Thumbs up Tail light

I got this from ZX-6racer on the forum and it worked great for me. if you do a search for monster you will find his bike and he has a video of how the light looks. Stock tail light and some LED blinkers.

Is it still a "DIY" if you don't do it yourself?

Just joking. I bought mine. I was scared I would screw it up.
