How to Ghettofy Your Bike...
I Know this is a little ghetto, but you gotta do, what you gotta do...
I attached an L key hex screw driver with tie pulls and wrapped a bunch of tape around it. It's actually pretty sturdy. I planned on buying the shift lever, but decided just go ahead with the sato rearsets. Probably gonna pick em' up next week. I'll put this home made shift lever to the test tomorrow on the ride to work...
Here is my bike after 24 miles :(
I think it's pretty minimal damage compared to other bikes I've seen laid down at 3 mph.

Yea, it is my first bike.. but I do have experiencing in riding. I took a turn like my tire's were broken in already, when they were not. My brand new tires were slick as hell...
Hopefully this little rig will hold up, I think it will

Yea, I am/was fine when it happened, not a scratch on my helmet or jacket! Funny how those were the first things I looked at when I picked myself up. I did tear a small hole towards the bottom of my jeans. I'm thinking about picking up a few of those icon denims, they appear to look very much like the boot cut CK's & Levi's that I wear on a daily basis. My wife was a whole nother' story, we are both 23 y/o w/ 2 kids and another on the way, so I guess you all could image the slack I got when I got home that night, but now she is cool with it. I'm thinking about buying her the new 250cc this summer... We'll see how that goes!
The ghetto fix I did actually worked, for a while. the L bar started to move up and down a bit making it kind of hard for me to shift, but I managed to wing it. I'm going to do a little bit more modifications to it so I can ride until my new rearsets come in, which I'm ordering tomorrow.
Question, do you guys think I should have the bike checked out at the dealer to see if anything was knocked out of place or became unstable?

can you elaborate? One of my friends said the same thing for the type of tires I have (Dunlops). He also said I should weave a lot too when you get new ones because it breaks the sides in too.

the tire is broken in once you've worn off the film on the outside. If you go to any track, the organization will say that you have to have at least 80% tread or new tires. weaving doesn't necessarily break in the sides, but more so a faster way to get rid of the film. If you do weave, make sure that it's gradual. Remember, the tires needs to warm up first. check you tire pressure too. 34-37 psi cold is good for most street riding.
As for bringing your bike to a dealer, you had a simple low side right? Do a visual check and check for any loose parts. chances are you didn't do any heavy damage unless your bike hit something. Does it ride ok? run fine? Any noises? I work at a dealer in CA and we charge $94 an hour. we charge that just to look at the bike even if it takes 20 minutes.

Damn, man, i feel your pain. I'm a new rider, with little experience, and....I dropped my bike. Twice.
The first time was at about 2mph. I wanted to make a slow speed u-turn, and i didn't have enough clearance. Front tire hit a rain depression, and i lost balance and control then dropped her. Only damage was a relatively small scrape on the clutch cover.
The second time was at zero speed. I foolishly tried to walk the bike from the side through a very narrow path from the backyard to the street. God damn stepping stones.....
Btw, i have the 05 magma red as well. Isn't it the most gorgeous red you've ever seen? I swear, this color is something that not even ferrari red can match.

Yea, the bike runs fine, from what I can tell, its got about 600 miles on it and I dropped it at 24, nothing seems or feels out of the ordinary. I'm takin it for it's first service (they told me to bring it in a 500mi), So hopefully they won't charge extra to take a look-see.
