I put one on back in july, and I luv it. I the first thing I noticed was the vibration . The stock sprocket has a rubber damper on it that absorbs chain vibration. After I had gotten past that I luv it. I noticed more low end power, more kick off the line then before. I dont drag race, but I dont think that it will your 1/4mile speed. It might improve your time though. Good luck..

why not just go up 3 on the rear to avoid vibration

I think it depends on where the chain tensioner block is, if it is back near the end of it's travel you would need a longer chain if it is near the front of it's travel you might sneak by?
