Alarm mounting on ZX-14
These bikes are expensive and many people are interested in alarms for their bikes. I thought I'd share with you a sweet spot to mount your's.
BOX LOCATION:
Some people try to mount them under the seat, but there isn't much room unless you lose the toolbox. On my bike, under the left side fairing, there is a black plast "flap", that lies flat and is just the size to mount my Gorilla paging system. I installed my alarm and PCIII at the same time and ran the wires together easilly and cleanly.
POWER WIRES:
Route the power wires down past the throttle bodies and up through the small hole under the battery box. To thread the wires through, I first put the positve and negative together and then wrapped their length thouroughly with black electric tape. After removing the battery, I took a three foot length of bicycle brake cable housing and routed it from inside the battery box, down through the hole, and out the left side. I taped the wires to the housing, then pulled them back up and through the opening.
WARNING LIGHT:
I don't want to drill holes in my bike, so I looked into an alternative. On the left side of the dash are three small round lights, but only two are used. I saw on my boss's Concourse 14, that has the same dash, the top light is used for his oem alarm light. I haven't figured this out yet, but there must be a way to tie into this light on our bikes. Has anyone else looked into this, or checked into adapting the oem Concourse 14 alarm? I'd assume there is a light bulb in there and an open plug on the backside, or a wire tied into it that we could tie into.
