Chain Adjustment
Hey Everyone. My Zx 14 Is My First Bike Since My 76 Kz 900 To Have A Chain Final Drive. I Have Read My Owners Manuel And Understand The Procedure. My Question Is -how Many Miles Can The Average Street Rider Go Between Adjustments?:

I usually get away with one after 5-6,000 miles, then none until I replace at somewhere around 20-23,000.

I usually have to change out my rear tire at about the same time my oil needs changing. Every 5000 - 6000 kms. If the tire has a bit of life left in it I might stretch it to 7500 kms, by then my rear tire is done and I change the oil at the same time. I don't adjust my chain between tire changes. I let my mechanic set it up when the tire gets changed out. I don't lube my chain much either, unless I have been riding in the rain. My chains tend to last about 30,000 kms. I follow the Fast911Ray school of maintanence. This is me at the shop for an oil change
"Change the oil, filter and put a new back tire on please".

That's funny Dave
I forgot that you own a Paso. Damm I love that bike..One of the nicest, prettiest, and most reliable and comfortable Ducati's ever made..right next to the 851 'SuoerBike'. What colour...blue, red, white or charcoal? Too bad they never found wide appeal in north america...

Ray, mine is a 92 907ie Paso in red. A friend of mine has been trying to buy it for a couple of years - I rarely ride it but don't want to sell it. He finally gave up and bought a red 906ie Paso and then turned around and bought a blue 906ie paso, so now he has both. We attract a lot of attention when we show up on two Pasos. I have a hard time choosing the paso when I have the zx14 though. I think the Paso has about 90 horsepower versus the zx14 which dyno'd out stock at 171 at the rear wheel.

The blue was my favourite..I has 3 customers with Pasos..a charcoal, red and the very rare [ ususual ] white with red and green striping. Big difference from a 14 though..even a ZZR or 9R as well. Still nice.. a very sophisticated look. I envy your friend..
