According to my good friend and Kawi dealer owner he thinks that Kawi sort of "corked up" the o7 knowing that zuk would be shooting for them again with the "Hay"bus and the o8 will mostly be sporting the benifits of freeing up those corks ...For instance a smaller secondary butterfly to allow more air passed at lower rpm s and a slightly different gearing as well as a better flowing air filter and better flowing exhaust as well as a little weight reduction. He has not been informed of any major mods at this piont. So the question is.. better price on the last year model and add some mods (that you'll probably add anyway PCIII,exhaust, filter, remove flies completly, lighter wheels.etc) or pony the dough and get the same result for more money. I went from a 93 FJ 1200 to my 14,big difference. I don't personally think the difference in any of the big bikes is enough to be relative on the street with the average rider so go with your gut and get the color you want, and don't worry about the slight advantage off the showroom floor, you won't get a shot at a pretty blue one again!!!

You will however gain a slight advantage in the resale market if you sell and buy regularly buy getting the 08 it will always be a year newer,LOL

^^^ ya, looks that way in ur avatar if thats you. Flatfoot im impressed. Personally, I would go with the 08 special edition just because i think it looks sweeter and its slightly more beefed up. But on the other hand, i wouldnt really be using all that power that much, only in street races and tracks, which dont come around that often for me, and the 07 would be alot cheaper since its last years model(and by last year i mean this year lol).

just road an 08SE im 5, 8 my heels dont touch the ground sitting on it. the reach is a little longer to the clipon than on the 636 i had. The brakes are overkill. if you use more than one finger on the lever watchout. The power is very manageable. Im "you" manage your right hand properly the bike is very user friendly. nothing to be scared of . in fact the power makes it easyer to get the bike going from a stop. my 636 had to be reved up to get it to move. this thing moves almost at idle. it dont explode into a wheelie monster by just working the throttle. you have to want it to wheelie to get there. This thing only really needs two gears. first to get it moving and sixth for everthing else. you can creep down the off ramps at 25mph in sixth then roll on the power and never have to change a gear. I found my self skipping gears riding around town cause its waisted effort to use all them at low speeds.

Out on the hiway it putts along doing 3500 rpm at 70mph. my 636 ran 6000rpm at 70. the turn ins cought me of guard. just by shift your weight around the bike turns in quick. dont really need any counter preasure on the clipons.

However, there is a problem with the paint on the frame of the SE. it appears the clear coat is crap. the red paint rubs off on what ever comes in contact with it. cleaning rags riding boots. im not happy at all.

If you say you don't fit on a 600 or 1000, how the hell did you fit on a 250????

You wont be disappointed with the 14! Go for it! But take it easy in the beginning!

In regards to being 6'7" I will refrian from the suggestion of lowering the bike as I did, that will just make you closer to the ground which you obviosly don't need I am only 6'2" but I like the looks of the lowered bike by far, and I still fit as far as reachin the ground without being folded up like a pretzel ! You might sit on someones lowered bike before you go that route.

There are a thousand things you could do the most common being taking the secondary flies out, adding an aftermarket exhaust system, a Power commander, an aftermarket air filter, etc. etc. most of which are single purpose upgrades to gain more HP. I would have to agree with "DUP" watch yourself and take it easy for a while and get used to the bike before you go addin power it is truly a bad ass machine that requires your respect! as do most any of the new larger performance bikes made today. Also as "Rikkus" stated the bike is very managable as is, but if you go pullin flies out and adding PCIII's and exhaust you are making the low end much less forgiving to accidental throttle blips and wheelies are common place pretty much anywhere between first and third anywhere in the powerband with a simple twist of the throttle. I would still say get the one you like the best don't base your decision solely on getting the bike with the absolute highest performance #'s there isn't that big of a difference between them not to the likes of you and I and most street riders we won't push a bike to those limits to really see a difference.

I would stick to making the bike your's. get some dress up or custom stuff and personalize it like no one elses, ride it awhile and then see how you feel about whether or not you really need anything faster. I've read several posts in here about people adding power then taking it back off because it was more than they wanted to them for knowing there limit or respecting the fact that they might not handle it in there best interest. So 07' , 08' whatever just get the one that blows your skirt up and go have fun you'll be happy with the 14.
I don't much personally like any of the S.E.'s there to busy looking, I still like the blue but the new silver (or whatever they call it) is sure to be a HOT looking bike with some chrome and custom parts !!!!

Remember that the 636 has a higher rev-limiter. if your 636 runs @ 6k rpm @ 70mph on 6th gear, that would mean that the bike runs @ 12krpm @ 140mph.
If memory suits me well, the rev-limiter is under 16k rpm... let's say 15.5k rpm
If that's the case, the bike will rev-limit @ ~180mph

How is this relevant ? well remember that the zx14 doesn't rev as high, so gearing must be set differently, if you want to bike to go @ high speeds.
Same thing happens w/ V8 cars vs I4.
A small economy car will easily rev passed 3k rpm @ 60mph, while a V8 can be @ 1200-1500 rpm @ 60mph.

hope this helps.

Now need to get the bike and a list of mods for the bike: HIDs, AngelEyes, full exhaust (thinking Micron), pc3
that'll get me started.
