Sounds like you've had some good rides along the way, just an educated guess that all 18K was not shit and drama? congrats.

It was mostly work, back, store, dancing, girlfriend, trips to palomar mountain road...
My last bike I had for 6 years and put 35,000 miles on it. At my current rate I will have 72,000 miles on this bike in the same time.

Wow, that's alot of seat time.
Any break downs? How many tires? Chains, sprockets?
Would you buy another 14?

what kind of tires are you running? I have squeezed 4000 miles (2 1/2 months) out of the stock tires and would like to get a bit better life from next set.

That sounds about right for stock tires. I changed to bridgestone 016s and it made a big difference in handling and wear. Price was right, too.
I'm also curious what camper used for tires. He may have used 2 sets of tires including the ones he started on so 18000 miles on 3 sets could be done.
He also needs to help out tuscanidream with girls.

Yeah I stopped for a day with my girlfriend. We went to Grand Canyon, New Mexico, Meteor Crator etc.
Lake Havasu stunk. I mean litterally it smelled really bad when we were there.
My tires at the cheapest hardest tires I can get. Since I don't do racetrack driving, I get the tough rubber. They last way longer, and are still great for gunning it on the freeway ramps and around twisties. I think they were only $230 for both front and back.

That was the big carp disease kill off. They couldn't clean up dead fish fast enough. We didn't even go on the lake for a long time.

18,000 miles and no problems, nice to hear that because heard theres been problems with warping discs, leaking head gaskets, paint coming off wheels and rusting under the tank, have got a 2008 zzr1400 only 3,500 miles on clock and had no problems, the mileage is low but also run a zx636 and mainly use the car to commute, you said you had a brake problem was it the discs,or just need a good cleaning,

That's about the same here. I replaced my rear tire (Michelin PP 2CT) in less than 5K miles and the front will need to be replaced within 500 miles. I had plenty of tread left on the sides though!
18,000 miles is not bad at all. I am at 13K miles on mine (2006 ZX-14) now (bought it with 8300 miles on it this summer.) It doesn't sound as solid as my '07 ZX-6R that I put 15K miles on last year, but we will see how it holds up. I have a warranty on it so we will see what happens.
