givi v35 colors
looks like I am going to pull the trigger on the Givi v-35 bags and mototech mounts. I have a question about color.
I have a 08 atomic silver and there are two silvers listed for the bags, satin and gloss. Has anyone seen either as to which is the better match?
thanks

Silver gloss, almost a perfect match.

Congrats on the decision! I think you'll love them. Can't help on the color selection though. I bought the gloss black (they are a little faster!).

I have noticed that the brackets for the Givi V35s attaches to the stock rear fender, is this correct? I am looking at getting some bags. Will they still mount sturdily w/o the rear fender? I don't have it installed on my bike anymore nor do I have it in my garage.

there are 2 type of brackets that i know of :
1. SW Motech
2. GIVI
you can get both from twisted throttle.
I think the SW Motech version connects to the license plate mount.
the GIVI version (designed for the euro and Canada?) requires a passenger grab thing and a euro spec. rear cowl. It has a bar that goes around the back of the license plate. I read somewhere that a guy used spacers instead of the grab handle so that he could continue to use the rear seat cowl.
My set up uses the GIVI version. (I've been told it has a more sturdy feeling than sw motech version) After mounting them on my bike, i can definitely say they are really solid.
I bought the passenger grab handle & cowl on EBay.
you can buy a handle off a late model zx-11. It's exactly the same as on the zx14 but can be bought for 20 bucks..
i bought a cheap rear cowl for a US model zx14, (about 15 bucks) I used a Dremel to trim it down to fit with the grab handle.
Bought matching paint from color-rite, sanded, primed, painted & clear-coated the ebay parts.
The results were decent, but it was my first attempt at painting anything like this. If you've got experience with this sort of project, it will probably look stock.

PROVEN001: Do you have pics of that handle setup that you could post or PM to me?
Sorry about the threadjack. It will never happen again.

looks like twisted throttle is back ordered and my kit won't ship till Dec 18.
O'well, its getting cold anyhow. I ended up ordering the motech side-carriers. Reason I chose these was from looking at the video install on their site. Good informational video on the install with a decent amount of detail. The guys who put the video together could use some acting acting/film classes, but they get the point across.
If you havent seen their video's they are here

I have the SW Motech removable mounts and the rear bracket attaches under the license plate holder. I have seen the installation done without attaching this bracket to the fender, but can't comment on how it affects the install.
Griso,
I used those videos to install mine and they are perfect.

Sweet setup Griso!
I really like the contrast of the silver/black. Those SW Motech brackets that let you keep the rear cowl on are great, and going from touring to street mode in 30 seconds is nice.
You'll have to remember that you have a wider load when maneuvering the bike through tight spots. I almost clipped a couple parked cars right after I installed mine.
