Question Where is the battery on my 07zx14? Fairing removal question too

Where is the battery on this thing? 07 zx14. I also can't get the fairings apart. Is there a trick to doing that?

I looked on the side of bike where it's supposed to be under plastic cover and I saw a couple of wires no battery. I know it has a battery because it starts just fine. And how do I undo the side fairings? I undid the screws but it's like the panels are joined together somehow and I couldn't get them apart. What's the best way to do that? Any help is appreciated.

Added this red section here because of double post made.

Look in your owner's manual for details. It's under your seat...or should be.

Short of that, the battery is located on the right side. You have to remove the right upper grill (3 bolts then pull) and the black cover behind it...which is also bolted in place.

LOTS of fairings on the bike so asking "how" is too broad a question. It's either unbolted with an allen wrench or if it's the black fasteners under the chin/inner fairing then those are removed by pushing in the small center section of them and they come right out. You then reset (pull the pin back out a bit) the fastener, reinsert and push the center pin back in to flush.

I unbolted the fairings but it was like the were stuck together and I couldn't seperate them. Is there some special way to get them apart?

Most fairing panels have male studs that snap into female rubber grommets either on other panels or the frame. They can be stubborn to pop out. I recently broke one off and had to repair the stud with epoxy, and this was on a panel I've had off multiple times. Once you get a panel off, it looks easy.

Those studs that go into the grommets are a real pain. I've tried a dab of grease when putting them back together but they're still difficult to pop out. One of my grommets with the brass insert is also torn. The next time I clean my air filter I'll need to replace it.

panels

Hey Oilfield-This is for the RIGHT SIDE of the bike. The lower belly fairing-remove the 3 allens along the center seam.Remove the 2 large bolts down on the bottom.Remove the front center rivet(right behind the front tire in the fairing(s)).NOW-Gently-grab the belly fairing at the bottom.Swing it out towards you.Look at the seam above-see the tabs in there?Lift the belly fairing up higher, and slide the fairing out and away from the tab holes-DO NOT ATTEMPT to pull straight down to separate the two fairings(upper and lower).Open it up like a clamshell-carefully slide out from the tabs.Same way installing.Have the fairing(belly) up and horizontal to the upper fairing.Slide the tabs in first, then CAREFULLY lower the belly fairing, making sure you are NOT bending the tabs at any point(three of them). It will slide in fairly easily if it's going in correctly.DO NOT FORCE IT IF IT's NOT going in.Start over, and line up the tabs before lowering the belly fairing.AND DO NOT FORGET THE FOAM BLOCK that sits between the engine case and the belly fairing-Tape it on there if you have to-but it should be sitting over the radiator hose(the round cutout)and the thick long flat part resting against the installed belly fairing. The angled pointed piece of it will go downward-angling "under"(kind of)the engine case(but not directly across it)It's there to keep the fairing from resting on the case and melting. It installs ONTO the hose right there. When you remove the foreman grills-remove the small front screw-then the two larger ones towards the rear of the grill.Grab the foreman at the rear part, slide your fingers under the grill(at it's very end there)and hold the body panel with your right thumb pushing against it.Continue to slide your left fingers under the grill, and pop the fastener(which is holding it from the backside)free. There's TWO fasteners-the other is up towards the front and at the seam of the midfairing panel(on the bottom edge of the foreman piece),where the foreman sits just over it.Pop that one free as well, being careful to HOLD the midfairing body panel at that point so it doesn't move away with the foreman attachment and crack the midfairing.I hold the foreman with my left hand(under the edge),and push on the midfairing right there with my right thumb-pull straight out till she pops free. There is a tab on the top of the foreman, you'll see it as you pull the grill away(carefully!)Make sure you allow that tab to slide down just a bit as you pull the grill out and away. Now look at that plastic cover just behind where the foreman was attached in the rear there. That piece will now pop out as well-it's got the same kind of plastic pointy fasteners that go into the little grommets there. And Voila!!!Thars yer battery!!!Once ya get it all off,you will see how she goes back in-same way-but I warn ya-if yer garage is cold....DO NOT SMACK THOSE PIECES BACK IN!Work em in slow-cold fairings=broken fairings!!!!They will pop back in with some steady pressure-and don't forget to slip the foreman tab(on the grill top edge)back under the tank cover mounting spot.It sits under that tank cover piece. The seams will fit flush with each other IF the pointy fasteners are all the way in-you'll be able to feel em pop home when they're in there right. One caution here-if you're removing the LEFT lower fairing-you HAVE to get the kickstand up to safely remove the complete fairing there. That rearward small piece on the fairing at the very bottom will hit the lowered kickstand and SNAP OFF EASILY.Don't ask how I know this

man the first time isn't ez that is for sure (like anything ever is for the first time) but i won't confuse you. once removing your bolts the best advise i can give is. try very small pressure at a time. if it don't move or atleast feel pressure free than look for another source of pressure. Jolly gave a great detail of tips... good how to Jolly

Thanks for the tips. I finally found my battery. How do I go about getting the battery out. Do I completely remove the bracket?

Thanks Jolly. You seem knowledgable about these bikes and since I can't get a reply what type of oil filters work with my 07 zx14. All I can find is a k&n. Does fram make one?
