Hard side cases and aftermarket exhaust....
Since I must order everything, it's gotta be right and gotta fit. I want to do sw-motech rear plate and add hard top box first. To add side hardcases need sw-motech side racks and add givi plx v35. But I also want to add aftermarket exhaust, either area p's or staintunes. But clearance may nt be enough with sw-motech sideracks. Anyone have experience with thi ssteup or very close? Need 3 HARD bags and aftermarket exhaust. No soft luggage, thanks.

for sure, if i wanted a c14, i would have and most likely if i could afford 4 or 5 bikes. was originally considering zx10 to also use for sport touring. fiqured something physically demanding to ride would be good for me. very glad that mentality didnt continue. i fear falling alseep on the connie but i have never riden one. nice bike for sure and to me on the sport side of tour. but i want to be on the tour side of sport and consider the zx14 to be a bit of an oinker already. i had heli risers and felt it didnt seem to lean up and over as nice. i am shorter, 5'6", so this might have something to do with this. but for now, really into the zx14, find its balance (tour/sport/comfort/handling) just right but just need top and side hardcase options that work with staintunes or area p's. this, so i can enjoy what the zx14 is for a few days on end in all weather without having my extra gear etc getting wet or flopping around. would you be happy with a c14 as your only bike? i also dont enjoy much going straight.

C14 or an FJR will give the twisties a run for their money. Most would be surprised.

I have not checked any out up close, only on the net. I did not know they are a PITA to remove.

not looking to be faster than anyone. just prefer more sport. that the zx14 is that over those two is not debatable. just want hard luggage options to work with staintunes or area p's. cheers!

want clip off, sleep, clip on, ride....
i read somewhere the plx35 are too low for staintunes when mounted with sw-motech sideracks but clear with givi sideracks. dont want the givi sideracks because, together, cant mount rear sw-motech toprack (for top case)... and givi doesnt make toprack and the side racks dont seem to come off as easily as sw-motech.
sooo, hoping someone has done or know how to do these 3 things at same time.... Hard topcase, Hard sidecases (using sw-motech because they come off easily)...., and staintunes or area p's.....cheers!

Hi,
I can confirm that the Givi siderack and Staintunes is OK, I have this myself.
The clearance from the case to the pipe is approx. 5 mm.
I have combined this with the SW-Motech Toprack.
It's not an option to remove the siderack when not needed, but it doesn't matter for me.
The siderack is also perfect for passengers as a grabhandle.
Two reasons I opted for the Givi Rack:
I've also heard thar the SW-Motech siderack will not fit with Staintunes.
If the SW-Motech rack is easy to remove when not in use, it would also be easy to remove when I've parked my bike with the side cases on.

i would think if the cases are mounted, it would be very difficult to remove with the cases, no? do they not lock on? if sw toprack works with givi side racks, i still can't get myself to leaving the sideracks on without luggage. was hoping the sw sideracks could maybe me modded so sit higher or exhaust can be mounted slightly lower. kinda bummer, i cant have it all. you pics look awesome and cant wait to figure this out to do some multi day rides this spring. also, any other comments on your setup?

The sidecases locks on to the rack, but the rach itself can be dismounted with 3 or 4 quick release screws for each side.
And from what I can tell from pictures of the SW-Motech rack, You would only need a screwdriver and 15 seconds to walk away with one of the hardcases.
I'm doing long trips across Europe for 2-3 weeks every summer, and I want my sidecases to be properly locked to the bike.
And I don't think living the side rack on when not in use looks bad at all.

Stein,
The SW Motech brackets have a locking quarter turn fastener ($30 option) to lock the rack to the bike. I spent a lot of time in the Oslo area (15 trips over 3 years). The riding there must be spectacular!

Hi,
Riding in Norway is very nice. It's even better if you go to western Norway where I live.
Lots of mountains and fjords, and very twisted roads
The Motech brackets, can they be unfastened when the cases are locked on?

I spent some time around Bergen and Stavanger, so I am jealous of your twisties!
It is very difficult, but not impossible, to unfasten the Motech brackets with the cases locked on. When I take mine off, I take the cases off first and then the brackets (under a minute to do all this).
With the bracket locking fastener, it is even more difficult. However, a motivated thief with a cordless Sawzall can cut the cases off in under a minute. The locks keep the "opportunity thiefs" away.
