Adjusting brake pedal after Buell peg install

After installing my Buell pegs a few weeks ago I quickly found that there wasn't enough adjustment in the brake adjustment rode to make the lever go far enough down. Well today I decided to make that fix......

I unscrewed the adjustment bolt in the end of the master cylinder all the way out. Then I removed the two allen head bolts from the master cylinder mount. This allows the rear master cylinder to be moved around. I then took my 4" grinder and ground off about 1/4" of the bolt, then filed the sharp edges smooth...then ran the locknut down over the ground area to make sure it would thread properly. I then installed everything in reverse order. Now I have enough adjustment to make the rear brake pedal where I want it to be....

The job took about 30 minutes start to finish and its nice to be able to use the rear brake without lifting my foot off of the peg....

Thanks for the info Fred. I have the Buell pegs also and I could not get the brake lever low enough.. The adjuster bolt is too long and the end hits the bracket when you adjust the brake all the way down...
I have been meaning to saw the bolt off some and readjust mine but I really don't use the rear brake for much [unless I am in a parking lot or manuevering slow downhill through gravel etc.]
I do not like to use the rear brake while trail braking/ cornering because it can get you into trouble real fast.. Better to do like Kenny Roberts said and go in slower but come out fast! I added a gizmo called a T.C.B. that limits the rear brake lock up and simulates ASB brakes.. It basically has some sort of spring loaded valve that releases some of the brake pressure in a cycle to help you feel when the brakes are about to lock up.
Works pretty good for the ZX14 rear brake (which has a tendency to lock up the rear wheel too easily)
Keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down! <Speedy><

I'll have to look into the TCB unit....

I trail brake....always have....been doing it for 100,000 miles or so and haven't had any problems so far, but then again I'm real careful when doing it. My riding style is hard into the corners and very hard out of the corners and usually I carry way to much speed into them (and the ZX14 doesn't make it any easier to slow my corner entry)......

I installed the Buell pegs last week. We went for a little "spirited" ride Sunday. They are not going to work for me. I touched the pegs down way too many times even with the feelers removed. I may try them on the Bandit.

I've heard that the pegs hit the ground more easily?? is that true?

I consider myself to be a fairly good rider especially in the corners and I haven't had any problems so far. My boots touch down first but I'm used to that because I wear a 14 EEEE... I have no chicken strips on my tires and I haven't touched a peg yet......

Did you leave the peg feelers on or off?

No feelers. My feet don't touch. I ride the twisties with the balls of my feet on the pegs. I do admit the curves where the pegs touched were pretty tight.
I am not one of the knee down riders - too old for that. I am more of a shoulder on the mirror type.
