Windscreen and Other Touring Ideas
I am 5'11" with a 30" inseam. Which screen offers the best wind protection - Zero Gravity Sport Touring or MRA Touring? Next purchase will be GenMar bar risers. I am assuming the Buell pegs are the best/cheapest way to lower the foot pegs.
Yep, I am really liking the idea of a 160hp sport touring bike that leans more toward sport.
BTW you guys were right. This thing has serious HP. Makes my 1250 Bandit feel like a moped.
What I really like is the ZX14 weighs almost exactly the same as the Bandit, but with better handling.

I went with the Laminar Lip, buell pegs, and Helibar risers and now she's comfy for the long hauls. I went with the Laminar lip from reading about some other people who tried the other touring screens and said that the lip gave the least amount of buffeting and I have to agree. I get very little buffeting with the lip installed.

is there a model # for these Buell pegs? I keep seeing them pop up in the web forums but never a model # or where to buy them. I'd love to put a set on my 14. Sorry to hijack the thread, I'm wanting to do the same mods to my 14 this winter.

i am 6'2 and just got the puig db a few weeks ago, i like it a lot it is def. better than stock...just be careful on your finish selection as they sent me a dark smoke (at least that is what the package said), however it looks light smoke. i should have returned it, but was already on my second order as the first was broken and i was like whatever.

I went for a short ride with the ZGST screen. In some ways it is better than the stock screen, but much worse in other ways. Yes it does take the wind off your chest, but it puts it at your helmet. My Sparx helmet is one of the quieter helmets available. There was little if any wind noise with the stock screen. The ZGST screen made it very noisey.
Maybe a ZG Double Bubble would be better. I may try the Laminar lip version also.

My ZGST screen works great on long rides (pic below). When it gets hot (mid 90's) I switch back to the DB to get the cooling airflow.

got same problem so i cut it down with dremel so air hit under helmet and just above shoulders. the zg is relatively thin so very easy to do. can probably use a little fine tooth saw. the rough edge is easily sanded down with rough sandpaper (i think i used 80grit at first) and looks not at all ghetto even though it is. since it sands down easily, your cut line does not have to accurate or straight at all. just be careful to be not too rough as the shield will crack due to its thinness and cut higher than you want and sand down. it is not hard to sand edge and you would think it would scratch everything up, as i thought might. but just the edge is sanded and it just looks like a brushed edge when done. you can level or shape how you want by sanding edge. my pic are lousy and looks better than pics. i found the biggest influence is height. thas allows anyone to get the perfect balance of added wind protection and increase turbulance/noise (you can find idea of where by sitting and standing at speed).

I went for a little "spirited" ride Sunday with some friends. I was really surprised at how well this bike handles. I had already set the suspension up before the ride. When I bought the bike the rear tire had "chicken strips" 2" wide - not anymore.
The 1" risers really improved the comfort yet you could still put your shoulder on the mirror.

How can you tell it is a Canadian bike
Because the photos was taken at a Tim Hortons!!!!!! We should have a photo contest of how many zx14's we can get in front of a Timmies.
ZX14, the fastest way to get from Timmies to Timmies.
When you coming out so we can go riding Pizz?

OldPete,
Top marks for noticing the Tim's sign! Our main bike night location in downtown Edmonton is a Tim's parking lot. I have counted over 60 bikes there on a busy night (small parking lot -30' x 150'). You should see the look on the faces of the cagers who pull in looking for a coffee!
We are almost snowed in here, so I would have to trailer to the Island. I am already planning the trip to BC for next summer, so that's probably when I'll get out there.

Aha, so it was not just me thinking that!
Pizz, give me some heads up on when you may be out here, so I can take a few days off to show you around the island.
Enjoy the snow, we have fog here.......lol. Rode to work today, and could not get above 15kmh in all the fog from home to the highway where I was able to attain a somewhat safe speed of 50kmh.
Oh well, that is winter.
