Got my heated gear!

Gerbings jacket liner & gloves just came in and I took them out in 50* weather, not really cold at all but it's as cold as it's been. In a word, incredible! I'm confident I'll be comfortable down below 20* easy, it's that good, check out Gerbings site, great stuff!

20°?! That's nuts. 40° is my low limit, but it has nothing to do with the cold.

JBear...now get you a Honda Goldwing for the cold temps and ride the rocket during warmer conditions!!! Heated grips...heated seats...and four hot air vents allow you to ride in comfort!!! Not to mention that big bug smasher that keeps the wind off of you! Rock

Like I said, it's not about the cold. I'm perfectly warm and comfortable at 40°. What I'm not comfortable on is ice, which I have hit when it was as warm as 39°. I've never hit it at 40°, so that's my limit.

Absolutely!!! I don't ride in any form of precipitation and ice is definitely NOT to be taken lightly...ever! Like most everyone, I've been caught out in a rain event in warm weather, but I won't ride in the winter with any precip forecast. Then again, I don't live where it gets too cold in the winter. Rock

I forgot to mention that I once saw a guy on a Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 Nomad cruiser riding right after it rained. This was in Biloxi, MS in the summer. The guy must have been quite the novice...he shifted from first to second in a left hand turn from a stop. Well, the back end tried to pass the front end and he dumped his wife right in the middle of the intersection while he did a "wrestle the greased pig" routine for the viewing public. I reckon he just wasn't thinking when he shifted in a turn under those road conditons. Rock

Yeah, rain doesn't bother me. Snow/ice/sand on the other hand... screw that crap.

They make gear that hard wires to the bike as well as battery powered gear for on the go.
