Installing Frame sliders

I am having difficulty removing the front motor mount bolts to install a set of no-cut frame sliders on my 08 ZX14. I Just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced the same issue and if so, did you result to using a small butane torch to heat up the bolt to break the bolt loose?

Thanks for you time.

Yes.. and no. All i did was got the allen key on there and locked a vice grip on the end to gain leverage and torqued that mutha sucka off. Left side was far worse than the right but it was all manageable without the heat. hope this helps you. 2WW

Thanks 2WW. I tried torquing them out as well but when I just get to the point of no return, a little birdie fly's by and says.....Mr. Gorilla "who doesn't know his own strength" do you feel like using an easy-out today to remove those what's getting ready to be broken bolts..LOL

No guts no Glory! I think I will go the safe route and use the heat (about 450 degrees which will loosen red locktite) and snatch those babies out.

Peace Out!

When I got mine, I tried taking one of the bolts out and oil had dripped on it so I took it to the motorcycle shop by me and they tried telling me I had messed my bike up really nice blaming me for basicly stabing the oil pan which I didn't. In the end it was the motorcycle shop that had caused all the problems, also I just had them put them on cause I had gotten them there, so they did it for free. That will probably be the easiest way to put them on.

I purchased a small propane torch (same type you'd sweat a copper fitting with) at my local hardware store which had an attachment to dispense a small pencil point flame. I removed both side panels, put the flame point directly on the hex heads of the 10mm bolts and held it there for approximately 1 minute. I expeditiously grabbed my 10mm hex socket, on 3/8" extension rachet and wa=la...those babys came right out. Once I removed the bolts my assumption was correct; Kawi used red=locktite to secure (weld LOL) the motor mount bolts. I installed my no-cut frame sliders and used the blue locktite to secure the bolts.
(Remember to remove one mount bolt and install one frame slider before moving on to the next.)
