New guy, launch question

What's up folks! New guy from Austin onboard. I just traded in my 1999 XX Blackbird for a 2008 Kawasaki ZX-14 Ninja. After a thousand, I opened it up and yeahhhhhhhhhh. I've seen Rickey Gadson say to launch at 3500 and just turn the throttle. It lugs badly everytime I do it. I have been running it around 6 or 7000 then feathering the clutch. I'm not on a track, but it seems just getting the clutch out is probably over 60ft. On my XX, I actually did launch it at 3500. If I were to have gone 6-7000, I would have been wearing it as a hat. Suggestions?
