help!!!need to take off passenger cover
just bought the bike and can't give a ride til i figure out how to take off the back cover, please help

Actually very simple....there are 4 Phillips head screws under the rear portion of the seat, just remove those and the cover will come right off. |

I always reinsert the screws into the bottom of the seat so they are handy for reinstalling the cowl. Be sure to not over tighten them because the threaded part in the seat can come loose and make it hard to get the threads started next time. |

lol...wow
just to be clear, before you back those four philips screws out, you're going to need to remove the seat itself first. on the left side of the bike under the seat you will find a key slot. insert key, give it a turn, and pull the seat off.

don't feel bad.. before i bought mine i had the dealer show me how to complete all of the small task... after you see it it will be extremly easy... like tron said don't forget to take the seat off first with out this step it will be an impossiable task.

chill troppo  we can't all be casey stoner, mat maladin race ready australians  you gotta start from somewhere. hell, i can remember when i bought the bike i could barely get the seat back on when i took it off  that didn't hender me from ridin' tha piss outta it though

Sorry, but I disagree.
The ZX is hardly a 'new riders' bike....
If you can't figure out how to take the bloody seat off then you shouldn't be riding the thing.....
If all else fails, RTFM....

how do you know this is his first bike? the 14 is the only bike i know of that has a cowl that unscrews from the seat. he would've figured it out without any help i believe. i don't understand why people want to get an attitude on forums? you should have never replied if you didn't have anything nice to say. would you have really told him that in person, honestly?

I have your back reevesmreeves. I joined this forum as well as others to share tips and experiences with less experienced riders as well as learn from others. People who don't have time to offer positive input should keep to their own. Our threads range from beginner on up and nobody should be undermined. Lets not forget, we all share the same passion.
There are no dumb questions here. Just an occasional AH.
