Engine Rattle?
Hey Guys,
Ive been noticing that every time I start my 14 up, it sounds like there is something that rattles really bad inside the engine somewhere just at first. Does anyone else have this problem?
Also between 2,200rpm ad 3,000rpm it has a buzzing noise like something might be loose somewhere around the front end of the bike. It sounds like a washer is jingling around a loose bolt that might be coming out somewhere. Has anyone had this problem either? Its only 3 months old and ive put just over 3,600 miles on it already. Any suggestions where to check without sending it in the shop to get tied up for 2 weeks during riding season?

Could be your chain???? I know when I ride next to a guardrail or something it sounds like I have a bolt rattling around somewhere but it's just my noisy chain. Soon as I move to the middle lane the noise is gone. Could that be it?

Sounds like something that I'm also experiencing. This sound only happens just after starting the bike. (not riding yet). It lasts less than two seconds and is more noticable if the bike sits a few days without running. It sounds like there are a few moving parts in the engine that are in need of oil. After a few seconds everything runs smooth.

Had the same rattle at startup wiht mine, it would do this for about 10 – 15 seconds than it was over. In my case it turned out to be the header bolts were not tight. That’s why it sounds worse when it's cold, first startup of the day was most noticeable.
Hope this helps

the cam chain tensioner works off oil pressure...the noise is the cam chain tensioner ...the rattle in the front is a switch under the windscreen...take off the windscreen you will see it..others have fixed this rattle but I cant remember exactly how ....hope this helps

I Have The Same Noise In My Engine When It Idles.Since I Was Taking It To The Kawi Shop For The Frame Recall, I Told The Service Manager About The Noise. He Said The Zx Engine Is A Noisy Engine And Not To Worry.
