Unhappy flies removed but a little worried

removed flies but a little worried

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i removed the flies today on my 07 14. thats not what worries me though. while removing them i had some trouble with one of the screws, and yes it stripped. i know i know, patients is a must, but it was only one. well the damage was done, so it was on to fix the problem. i did heat the screwdriver, made it worse as i continued to strip so went on to some needle nose pliers. didnt work. i figuered last resort, drill through the screw. which i did. first i dabbed some toilet paper in oil and placed it underneath the secondaries and proceeded to drill. half way threw drilling it dawned on me to try (fyi) hammering a flat head in to the head of the screw(since it is so soft). and it worked, got the fly out. after all this i cleaned the intake port thoroughly and closed it back up. now what worries me is if i might have missed a little shard of metal or something where i did not notice. would this cause any damage or compression loss? like i said if anything was left behind it was to small to be seen. but the idea is bothering the s@#t out of me.

Probably not. I have had lots of bikes with crap blown through them.

As long as you didn't have a tablespoon of iron filings you're fine.

FYI, needle nose vice grips work perfectly to get screws out that you strip. Ask me how I know... That was for future reference for the family who have yet to pull the flies out. There is also a drill kit called the "grab it". It works for stripped screw heads.
