Is the Corbin worth it?

Hey all,

i just purchased my 2007 14 as a leftover model about 3 moths ago. Ive put over 3,200 miles on it already but the seat is still feeling alittle firm on long trips. Does anyone know if the corbin seat is really worth all that money?

I wish I started this thread a couple months ago,,,,, purchased a corbin and for the money I was expecting somthing alot better. Quality is good but its still on the firm side but I'm not a fan of the seating position. It puts you down further which is good to get you out of the wind but it cramps your legs more. It also puts you back further making it harder on the wrists. Also I picked the carbon fibre material and its very slippery. You have to be holding on really tight or you'll slide off the back. I wish I would have put my money somewhere else. Oh yeah, Its also like 10 pounds heavier then the stocker!!!!!!!

Try finding a 08 Concours seat. I am looking and I think that is the ticket. Here is another option:

Thanx for the input guys. The seat thing might have to hold off though. Im taking my bike up to the dealer tonight to get the frame checked out. I got one of those recalls in the mail last week about the frame cracking. This is my first new bike and this issue has me stressing hardcore knowing that I spent this much money and could be out for the entire first season I own it. Wish me luck...

I don't have any firsthand experience with this company or it's product, but it is a whole heck of a lot cheaper than either of the alternatives above. I am close to pulling the trigger on it, but not just yet.

Concours gel seat

The concours comfort gel seat fits the ZX14.

It also lowers the riding position. Good for the low riders, bad for the tall.

Congrats on the news!

Here what the C-14 seat looks like if you are still interested.

This seat is much more comfortable than stock and prevents a second rider from sliding forward. You just need to install your stock seat brackets on this seat and your ready to ride.

that is a sweet lookin seat for sure! what exactly is the type of muzzy exhaust you have on there? it looks like it brings the pipes up a little bit more of a high- mount style than stock. looks real nice. does it make it sound alittle deeper? how much did the pipes cost?

I'm running the full Muzzy racing exhaust with the Oval carbin fiber can. Part # 1014-00220 I also purchased it for around 850.00 shipping included. I have not seen the seat anywhere cheaper than I paid off ebay. The exhaust sounds great and yet not too loud for me. It has a nice powerful sound at lower revs and really screams at the higher.

I have to figure a way to create a sound clip so I can share.

My little experience with corbin... this was a loetter i recently wrote to corbin... still trying to get my money back.....

I had always held Corbin in high regard concerning your quality of product and service.... That is until I decided to make my first purchase from you. I ordered a new saddle and optional backrest in March of this year. I was totally excited when the large white Corbin box arrived in early late April after a 5 week turn around... Thought this was a little excessive but shrugged it off as a cost of purchasing something custom and of high quality. After spending three useless hours attempting to get the seats latching pins to line up with the stock ones I called your customer service line and was told to spray the bottom pan of the seat with lubricant such as WD-40 as to aid in movement of the seat pan. I thought this was some what unusual but did it any way. I was instructed by the technician to them give the seat a firm pound to make sure that it was pushed as far as possible. None of this worked. I was able to obtain a shipping return number to return the saddle to you. After another month of waiting I received the saddle back. To my surprise the saddle had two small tears in the leather on the tail section of the seat and the actual riders seat looked as if the leather had delaminated (Become un-glued) creating a large air pocket in the center of the seat (bubble). After no less than another two hours of working with the saddle lubricating the rubber seat mounts and negotiating with my hands I came to the realization that nothing had been done to the saddle in the month that you had it back in California (it still didn't fit) At this point I am completely irate. Now after waiting over a month my credit account still has not been credited back the cost of the saddle that has been returned now for over a month. I have called numerous times speaking with Brian, Sergio, and leaving a message with the owners assistant (front desk did not provide her name when I was transferred to her voicemail) with out any returned calls or status updates. This is the sadist excuse for customer service and product quality I have ever experienced.
These saddles are supposed to be custom fit for each application. I see no point in having to beat an $800.00 dollar custom fit seat with my hands and spray it with oil to make it fit my $11,000.00 bike. Heck the stock seat slides in and latches with the push of two fingers. You would think that a custom seat even with tolerances would fit equally as good.
I really wish I was able to complement you on how much your product improved the ride of my machine and brag to all of my riding friends that your product is the best out there. However I can not, I can tell all of my friends about the sad service and quality of your company and product. This is what I intend to do. I have the right mind to charge you interest for the balance of the product for the last 4 months as I have been charged. But figure that would never happen. Heck you can't even return a phone call. Adding and subtracting numbers and calculating interest would blow your mind.

Sorry for the long post and rant but had to do it since someone asked. I would try Tobin seats.

Sounds familiar, had to stack washers under the latch to make it fit. That in turn was a waste of time because once I rode the bike I realized that I just wasted $800

I'm glad to see these options. I put over 600 miles in the saddle yesterday. A buddy of mine (on a hayabusa) and I rode to another state just to have lunch and come back. Good idea, great lunch, perfect weather, tired backside.

If one of you guys is interested in buying it, let me know. I figure that the same $150 that Az-ZX-14 paid for his on Ebay would do, plus transportation. It would be sent from Tampa, Florida. I am guessing that transportation might be about $35 (I will charge whatever the actural UPS or FedEx cost is)

Just refer to the photo above that Az-ZX-14 posted to see what it looks like on a ZX-14 (thank you Ax-ZX-14).

If there are any questions about seat comfort on a ZX-14, I would'nt know. Maybe AZ can say.
You have PM.
