Sliders and cracked frames
Ok, so I want to put sliders on my '08 and I post here and other places for recommendations.
1st, it appears that not many of you are running sliders due to the lack of responses. If this is true, I wonder why?
2nd, what responses I've gotten seem to raise the concern that there's a correlation between frame sliders on the ZX14 and cracked frames. What's up here? Anyone had any real experience with sliders causing cracked frames on impact?

Wow, I thought a lot more people would chime in. Well, I don't own a 14 yet (hopefully by the end of summer) and I will tell you that sliders will be my first mod. I have seen firsthand how much they can help save plastics. As for the cracked frame deal, I haven't heard anything about the sliders contributing to it. If the impact is hard enough to crack or bend the frame, I would total the bike and take the money. For what it's worth, sliders should be the first mod made to any bike. Well, maybe removing the reflectors since it's free. It's cheap insurance. Specially for those who have or know someone who has dropped their bike on the parking lot.

56 pounds shipped? that sounds kinda steep. I paid less than 40 bucks on ebay for a set of polished aluminum sliders and they look great.

I have a set of Carbon fiber and Delrin (I think that is the stuff) on mine, and hopefully I will never find out about cracks and stuff.

Bought and installed a set of T-Rex delrin sliders. No cut, easy install, and mount to the upper engine mount points, with replacement bolts included in the kit. Since it's the upper engine that's taking the hit in a fall, I don't think that the frame is going to be too much of an issue.
