I just purchased a set of Puig sliders for my 07 and they seem like the are pretty nice. Took about five minutes to install, didn't need to remove the plastics. I haven't "tested" them yet and I hope I don't have to.
I went with the Shogun polished sliders on my 14. Very easy to install. They did their job when I went down 4 months ago. I suffered cosmetic damage on the right side (mirror, lower cowling, rear cowling near the seat), which were all easily replaced.
