Another New guy, NEW 07 CPB ZX-14
Hello everyone! Of the 5 or so different Kawasaki forums I've browsed, I think this one is the best as far as good topics! Sooo, I will get right into it, I wanted to do a search but couldn't find a search function so instead of posting several different threads when i decided to purchase my mods I will do them all at once and write everything down from responses; so opinions from fact or experience would be great. Hearsay is discouraged..... Mods so far are fender eliminator kit and 8K HID setup, LED blinkers on the way. Mods to come are below based on responses.....
1. Intake - Pipercross or BMC?
2. Exhaust - Yoshimura or Akrapovic? (Dual slipons are a must; luv the dual look, not racing so don't want full system)
3. Steering Damper? What's good?
4. PC3 - Best place to buy?
5. Suspension - Lower 1.25 or 1.5? Will links from Ebay do the trick?
So lets here it my fellow adrenaline junkies! Links to where to buy would be great especially if you know where an awesome deal is. Maybe the Mods could sticky this so all the newbies could see and not post this over and over? I traded up from and 06 Vulcan 2000 and boy and I glad I did. My new ride is below, and thank you guys in advance for your resonses.

Well congrats first and nice color secondly!!!!
I am very happy with my BMC race filter as far as exhuast I went with the Micron full system so I don't have any bias toward either of your choices there (cept I think I would go Akro if I had to choose)
I used the Yanashaiki links to lower and went middle hole lowest is too low. I have since found Diamond Power Sports links and like them simply because they are fully polished as opposed to spun alluminum look. Vortex makes a nice product also but I would lean toward Diamond if I was buying again.
If or when I buy a damper it will probably be GPR V4.
As for the PCIII and where to buy I get 20% off at my local dealer because were buds now that I spent 11 grand at his store!!...... (just kiddin Jim, I think we were buds before that??? ) So I didn't do much shoppin when it came time to buy , I just call him and tell him what I need and he orders it and I get it for 20% below market$
So hope that helps a little and good luck!!

New Guy too, just bought a left over 07 zx 14 last week, put a stone through the rad third trip out. Bike in the shop, rad $900.00 plus, not a great start. Love the bike, upgraded from my VFR 800. Found a forum here on COX stoneguards as well, guess what else is being installed.............

Welcome.
1. Intake - Pipercross or BMC?
I personally run Pipercross, but BMC sounds to be on par. Some people just cut off the metal mesh on there OEM filter.
2. Exhaust - Yoshimura or Akrapovic? (Dual slipons are a must; luv the dual look, not racing so don't want full system)
I have a full system also, so I cannot comment. If I went with slipons I would have ended up with 2 Bros Carbon cans.
3. Steering Damper? What's good?
For the drags you may be better off with the GPR. If you want the best out there for both strip and street go with the Scotts. It has a constant high speed damping valve that is always working for you. NO other damper out there has this option.
4. PC3 - Best place to buy?
The best place to buy one in my opinion is HPC. ( https://www.zx14.net/shop/ )The pricing will be similar across the board. The difference here is a shop dedicated to ZX14 modification. They have a huge library of mapping software that has been custom tuned to most any setup. Call them up and ask for Greg. He'll hook you up. If you are going for a custom tune, buy the cheapest one you can find.
5. Suspension - Lower 1.25 or 1.5? Will links from Ebay do the trick?
Links from Ebay WILL do the trick. I would suggest a threaded type with turn buckle fittings. You will be able to adjust them anytime with the turn of a wrench.
In addition to this, I would strongly recommend reading up on your suspension system and dialing it in for your own body weight. It comes from the factory set for a 150lb rider. Not a big job if you research it thoroughly.

I have to second Evilsports post. I recommend contacting Greg (or his wife) at HPC. If you buy the pciii from him he will give you a map with it for free. I believe he is running a special this month, something like $260 or so for the pciii. While you are ordering it go ahead and get the pipercross filter as well as the full Yoshimura exhaust, you will be glad you did. :D
I bought my filter and exhaust from Greg and the map he gave me is awesome. Of course the map is designed for flies out so you will want to do that mod as well.

Is there a big difference between a full system and slip-ons as far as power goes? I heard there wasn't.....I really like the dual pipe look of the bike and don't want to loose that with a full system that goes 4:2:1 for only a few more ponies..........

I have been told the HP difference is only a few (4-5) hp. I think the bigger difference will be in weight reduction. I was sold on the dual exhaust initially, but I have really grown fond of the 4-2-1 setup.

Thank you Dr. Evil, I will keep that in mind. The weight reduction is definitely something to consider. I've heard you can drop around 30lbs by just going 4:2:1 depending on your setup which being a heavier rider like myself (215lbs) makes a huge difference when u pull up to some kid weighing 150lbs dripping wet.
