just bought my zx14
Ok so i just bought my zx14 2006 with 0miles(now 45). i bought it from a dealership in sacramento.
i have a couple questions about the bike.
now it was about 105degree when i was riding it in basicly stop and go traffic even with lane spliting for about 2-3 hours. The bike got HOT!!!!! one bar underneath the H which is 2 bars about the medium line. should i worry about this or was it just because it was hot outside. both fans where on.
another question is when at a stop in N if you let out the clutch you hearing like a tapping/chattering/bumping underneath the gas tank. i took it to my dealer and he said it was normal so idk.
also i dont really like the gauges. is there any more gauges out there that look cool and go well with the zx14?

First welcome and congrats on the new toy, there's a thread related to the overheating questions. Does the 06 come with two fans? Cause the 08 sure doesn't. There are several diferent gauge colors to chose from online and even 210 mph marking on them. Ive never taken notice of the noise ur talking about but I'll check it out next time I go for a ride.

Congratulations on the new bike. Now just get rid of those flies, add an exhaust and a pciii and you will be amazed at how much power you have. Once you remove the secondary flies you will feel like you are on a completely different bike.

Try BLUEGAUGES.COM they have many mods for your gauges you can buy indiglo, and reverse black out faces as well send in the cluster and they will change the color of the lcd backlight as well as the leds behind the faces turned mine blue.... I know.... Imagine that..... Blue???
to Dawg the cluth does make a little rattle when it is in gear and the clutch lever is pulled, try putting it in (push) and see if the noise doesn't go away.

ZX-14 Way too hot
I just got an 07 ZX14. Right away from the dealership this puppy got hot. I am aware they're doing this to comply for emissions, but melting the rider can't be a good thing. Anyway I looked up behind the radiator, and couldn't believe my eyes. I can't imagine what the Kawasaki engineers were thinking. There is at LEAST a 1/2 inch gap between the fan shroud, and the radiator. It's common knowledge that air (and fluids) will take the least path of resistance. In essence the fan is pulling most of air from between the shroud, and the radiator, and NOT through the radiator like it should. From what I can tell it should be an easy fix... Remove the fan. Get some thin (.032) aluminum sheet. Cut a strip about 5/8" wider than the gap (in my case it would be 1 1/8 wide). Form/bend the sheet/strip in the shape/circumference of the shroud, and pop rivet it to the shroud. Oh, and it would be a very good idea to do hem fold the radiator side of the aluminum, so you would need to make the aluminum strip approx 1/4" wider. The hem fold will keep the sharp edge of the aluminum from cutting into the radiator. OR,,You could also make the aluminum strip a bit smaller/narrower, and use some soft foam weather striping on the aluminum edge that comes in contact with the radiator. Using soft foam would also make a tighter seal against the radiator which would ensure that the fan will pull all the air through the radiator.
Hope this helps.
