ZX-14 comfort comparison
Hey All,
Considering a 14 because I want a bike that hauls, but is as comfortable as possible. I know the new Concours 14 would have a much more relaxed riding position, but not sure I want all the weight that goes along with it.
The closest I've ever ridden is the old Ninja 1000 (1986 I believe it was). Nice bike, but made my hands fall asleep after a 30 minute ride.
Anyone ever ridden the old Ninja that can compare the two as far as comfort/vibration? I know there will be no comparison in power.
Thanks in advance.

the 14 will lean you over further than the old 1000 ninja, you need to beg a test ride off your local dealer and try one, you have to learn to grip the tank with your legs and take the pressure off your arms

I am very sensitive to vibration as well, I had to sell my 05 Hayabusa because of the vibration. This 08 14 that I have now is wonderful, almost nothing in the bars, I even ditchted the big factory bar ends and put some small spikes on and still hardly any bad vibes. It's very comfartable too, except for the seat, but I ordered a new one and after that gets hear it should be perfect.

Can't really compare it to an older ninja but I can compare it to the K1200S I put 16k on in 18 months. The K was a very comfortable fast bike. I could easily do 300 - 500 days. However, I did have a problem with that bike and my fingers going to sleep.
So far I've not put a long one on the ZX but I'm pretty comfortable on her. Don't have any issues with my wrists, hands or fingers and the bike is very smooth with a good riding position due to it's long wheelbase. Expect to get a fair amount of wind across the shoulders and upper chest. Also a fair amount of heat against your calf an thigh, not too bad though. I too had considered moving to the Connie but also decided I just wasn't ready for the size and heft. Go for it dude, you'll be happy with your decision.

I have 2 popped discs in my spine from a little incedent many years ago that pitted my girlfriend,me,and my V-65 Magna against a drunk and an rx-7 I managed to total the rx-7 for him after he ran a stop sign and pulled in front us, and she was lucky enough land on my back as I supermanned across the soft gravely pavement into the puffy soft ditch wearing a short enough jacket to allow some of the blacktop to embed itself softly into my skin. All that said to say........
The 14 is smooth enough to take my mind off that, and my back pain is not a problem due to how smooth the bike is, has to be one of the nicest things about it other than IT's FREAKIN FAST!!!!

I may have been putting too much weight on my wrists, but I don't think I have the best circulation either so may be more sensitive than others.

How would the riding position compare to a new VFR800?

I have a VFR 750, and the riding position on a VFR is taller and more compact. They are not the same riding position. I can't say for the VFR 800, but I would assume the 800 and 750 are identical.
I think I am looking at a ZZR1200 to have two bikes in my garage.

Hello
My 08 Silver ZX replaced an FJR.
I put genmar risers on it recently....wonderful. 1 inch up and 3/4 back.
OK - it is not as comfy as the FJR, but it is very good.
As others have said, the engine is a gem....smooth and beserk performance.
Ride one.

Honestly...it wouldn't matter if it was as comfortable as being strapped to a chair with my eyelids glued open watching an episode of 90210 while listening to John Tesh playing the steel drums on an old 8 track recording while having to use the restroom after too many bean burritos from Taco Bell.....IT IS A ZX14!!! The greatest bike ever to grace the world with its presence. I will suffer with ANY riding cramps or numbness from this thing. JUST LET ME RIDE IT SOME MORE!

The CBR 1100XX Superblackbird is a comfy and fast bike as well. Something to consider anyway. I have a 2000 metallic titanium for sale because I am looking for the ZX aftermarket, lol

Hey, I also have a 2002 ZX 9 and the 2007 ZX 14 is more comfortable on longer rides. I'm 6'3 and 225. Although, I have to agree with everyone else here. Once you ride it, you will be smiling too hard to notice how comfortable it is. It's comfortable around the city as well. Beauty and Flat out Fast!!!
