120mph hill
There is this particular hill that I have on my way to home, that is straight, long and perfect for doing 120mph just before making the right turn into my housing development. I think the speed limit on the hill is 45mph. Since it only takes about 0.002 seconds for the ZX-14 to go from 45mph to 120, the hill is perfect for a blast-of-speed-in-the-middle-of-nowhere.
This evening while I was riding home, I decided 120mph was out of character and I was going to chug along behind this little hybrid at about 5 mph below the speed limit. Both of us looking like pregnant cows using walkers, just barely able to make it up the hill, while other cars passed us.
There has never been a cop on that hill in the 8 years I have lived here.
...until tonight. I waved at him as I putted along at 40mph.

Police are your friends....uummmkayyy.
100+ around these parts gets you jail with your bike swinging from the back of a tow truck.
Go DIRECTLY to jail,
Do NOT pass Go,
Do NOT collect $200

This debate always goes on, and I don't think it will ever change.l
I know guys who blast roads at insane speeds, and get pissed when the cops are doing their job, or pull someone over and give them a ticket for doing "stupid things".
The same guys are the first ones running out onto the street in their subdivision when some kid in a tricked out jap car is driving too fast on "their street" near where their kids live and play.
Truth be told... we all do it. We all go way too fast, in places that we shouldn't, or wouldn't normally... but we roll the dice. We know that there are people in place to enforce laws to protect the safety of those around us.
I just when I hear comments like that about cops. Don't get me wrong, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But remember that opinions are like assholes... everyone has one, and everyone thinks that everyone else's stinks.

That goes to show you, the longer you ride the more feelings that something isn't right kind of nudges you. It's when you ignore them is when you get into trouble.

nice camperjohn
ive had my share of cops
i will not bad mouth them anymore. Today me and a few buds were doin 130ish, just goosin it on I-29
cop was sitting behind an overpass. As soon as we saw him, we hit our brakes. He pulled us over and told us that he didnt have his radar on, but he said he knew we werent doin 75 lol
He spent 10 mins talking to us about wheelies and burouts and then let us go with a warning. he kept on talking about his goldwing
go figures

Actually now that I think about it I have a much better story to tell.
When I was about 19, I used to deliver and take down Real Estate signs like these.
Basically, real estate companies need to put houses on and and off the market every day. So I was the guy that would take the morning list of 50 homes, and go around, putting up sign "for sale" here, taken down another sign there etc. Actually the short version of this was "I used to do deliveries".
I would drive my 1978 pickup truck so fast I would get red-shift as I drove near the speed of light. Sometimes I would arrive before I left.
One day, I was driving along at about 280 MPH and this road about 1 mile long came in front of me. There was nobody around and I was thinking "Oh man I can really boot it". But something grabbed me on the back of my neck and told me to drive the speed limit. This was on a Saturday, nobody around, nothing except 3 solid minutes of sloooow driving at 25 miles per hour (that was the speed limit on this road).
Half way along, I really began to think how odd it was that I was forcing myself to do the speed limit, so slow as it was, along such a long straight road. I NEVER drove the speed limit when doing deliveries.
At the end of the road, parked behind a school, was a cop just waiting for demons like me. I would have lost my licence, probably my truck (which was only worth about $23 at the time anyway), and the result would also have lost my job.
It wasn't luck. I felt a clear and distinct "hair of the back of my neck" feeling and almost heard the voice tell me to go the speed limit. 25 mph.

If we wind up in the middle east I think I'll stick close to John and his intuition
Now John, she'll do warp 7 but is only worth $23.00 ?

I would continue with my intuition but it gets wierder from there. Eg: I "hear" things talking to me. Like my carkeys telling me they are lost behind the couch, or my roommate's 1gig memory stick, telling me he is stuck in her laundry and that's why she can't find it. By the way, her 1gig memory stick was a knight in a previous life.
What's wierd about it is, my car keys were actually behind the couch, and when my roommate looked in her laundy for her memory card, it was there just as I told her it would be. She was freaked out.
I warned you it gets wierd. I warned you.

Try walking in our shoes for a shift and cleaning up the results of a 120 mile hill and then call us pigs. People that have your out look make me sick. We do the best we can to keep the wackos in line however, with people like you and your overwhelming support it olny make our jobs that much harder. Most people can not even imagine the job that we do for little pay and VERY little respect and then having to deal with people like you giving us crap about it.
Grow Up.
Zachary, I am Proud to be a Law enforcement Officer and keep our streets a little safer.
