pillion problems
Any of you guys had problems with the pilion constantly sliding forward, especially when breaking. I had a GSXR1000 for 5 yrs before the ZZR1400 which my wife really liked in the back and we didn't have the sliding problem. The 14's a great bike but the pillion seat is a real issue for us. It's only going to get worse as I start to ride in more agressively as the miles increase. If i don't find a cure I'll be trading it for a 2008 Busa.

The Concours-14 (GTR-1400) seat will fix the problem. The passenger does not slide with this seat (see picture)

Is the seat a direct fit for the zx? Will the zx cover still fit on it?

The seat is not a direct fit. It will be necessary to put your zx14 seat brackets on the C14 seat. Then it will fit like a glove.
The seat cowl cannot be used with the C14 seat because it is missing the threads to mount the cowl to the seat. It is also taller than the stock seat.

It's an easy enough fix.. JUST GO TO harbor freight and get a roll of the tool box liner material..the spongy grey colored stuff.. take off your seat and cut out a piece of the lining material and strech it around the seat.. Staple it to the back of the seat and repalce the seat.. She will NOT SLIDE FORWARD.. My girl loves the added comfort and it looks ok too... A cheap fix and it makes the bike much more fun to ride for a pilion... <SPEEDY14><

Where can you get a Concours seat for cheap? Or are they a dealer only item?

Cause that is my first mod. That seat looks perfect on the ZX14 AND it looks more comfy than the stocker.
BTW, is a Pillion another name for a passenger?

I purchased mine off EBAY which came of an 08 Concours for 150.00 + 15.00 shipping.
Good deals can be found. Just be persistant and keep your eye on the newly listed auctions.
Good luck

I also bought a cool attachment called Extra Bars..It is a billet aluminum bracket that bolts on to the cas cap mount with three screws.. (It has two handlebars that the missus can reach over and grab and it really stabilizes her) A much more asecure feeling for bouth of us..They look a little funny and we often get stopped and questioned about them but she loves them because she had such a solid hold and can lean with me and NEVER slides forward..I take them off when she is not riding with me and it is only three screws.. Pretty cool If I could figure out how to post pictures I could show you..<Speedy><

Yeah; That is where I got the idea.. I have seen the Triboseat on the web and they look just like the tooll box liner material with a few more stiches and a string etc.. Staple on the liner mterial and it is basically the same thing.. Only much cheaper and her butt will stay planted..!
