Newb here

Just bought an '08 saphire blue ZX14. Won't have a chance to experience the ride until next week due to it's still in the crate but I'm very much looking forward to it. Also looking forward to input from you fine folks and any things I otta know in advance about the beast.

Two things, help a newb out here with some suggestions on GPS and radar mounts. And, what's all the chatter about "secondaries". Thxs.

Make sure you replace your cheeck pads in your helmet to make more room for the permanent smile

and maybe a clean set of drawers to change into after the first time you lay it open

The secondary butterflies are actually the first set in the intake path to the cylinders and can be removed to provide more powerful low end response. the 2ndry flies don't open until mid rpm and restrict the flow of air until they open. The idea being supposedly to make the bike more rideable I think they did it to make it easier to modify when it came time to make the next model faster. they are easily removable and there is a picture how to thread that some very thoughtful, considerate and knowledgeable member of this forum posted that will show you how. good luck and congrats!

Heres the thread on takin them out

Thanks dude. Good thread. To clarify though, the '08 has these secondaries or not?

Yes the 08 has the flies, they altered the opening timing and made them smaller but they are still there and can be removed.
