Stator Issues

I have recently replaced my stator and rectifier. This pair is burning out as the first pair did. I have already performed the recall for oil in the stator harness connector on the first replacement. This time the connector was burned up badly. Myself and others suspect something is drawing too much amperage from the stator. And that is pulling down the rectifier then pulling down the stator. Am I even close to solving this? Where should I go from here?

This has been an issue on the ZX12R almost since day one. The fix that Kawasaki did during the recall really did not fix the issue. The main thing you need to do is remove the connector going into the rectifier, and the connector leaving the rectifier and hard wire the wires together. Really the connectors are the biggest weak point. For whatever reason they cannot handle the current flowing through them. I removed the connectors and hard wired the wires, now everything works properly. The wires still get pretty warm, but not hot enough to do any damage.

Check out the sticky's on the top of the page when you click on this link. There is a lot of great info that will help you understand exactly what the issue is.

Thanks buddy. Yo, what kind of rectifier is that? The wires don't look stock. That seems to be the ticket. I'll do it. Hardwire it is.

The rectifier and the stator is from http://www.ricksmotorsportelectrics.com/ I went the aftermarket route when my stator blew, and it has worked well for me. There is a lot of current running through those wires, so make sure you splice them well. I used an uninsulated crimp-type butt connector (you can cut the unsulation off if you can only find insulated ones), then soldered it all together, then heat shrink over it.

hey bro I fill your pain but the 2003 just wont start if the battery is not charged fully. Try replacing your battery with a Yuasa YuMicron Battery
cheap site http://www.indysuperbike.com
has 30% more starting power.
