Test drove a new 10 today
Got a chance to test drive a 09 10r today.Handles great. But if this is the bike thats going to blow the doors off my 12,unless a pipe and gearing really wake it up,that aint going to happen. It's gutless below 9000.Even the 05 gixxer i had pulled better in the middle.Yea she's a screamer but you can't drive like that all the time.On a positive note it's much more refined than the gixxer.

Dude, three words. Timing Retard Eliminator.
Your 12 weighs a full hundred pounds more DRY, and only has another 10HP to push it around at it's peak with the ram air in full swing. The power to weight ratio is exponentially worse, I don't know how you could think it's gutless.
ON the other hand, that extra 200cc's likely give it far more low end grunt and hence more power under the curve, which makes a big difference out in the real world... especially if you're used to how easy it is to ride with something that actually has torque. Your observations sound exactly like me when I get off a friend's ZX6 shaking my head and wondering how anyone can live with something that feels like a moped unless you're winding it out in anger like it just raped your mother.

Just keep your 12. Spend 3 or 4 thousand on the suspension and maybe you'll be happy. Remember the 10R has a type of traction control system built into the ECU. Unless you are at full throttle at track speeds, the bike will not let you get out of shape on corner exits. seems acceleration is more important to you than handling and braking. Sounds like the 10R isn't for you. Maybe the new generation of busa would be better for you.
Does your 12R have stock gearing?
Full Akra would put the power close to 175 at the rear wheel. Plus 2 or plus 3 in the rear would give you more punch. you would be fighting wheelies though. I don't think I've heard anyone call the 10R gutless before. There's always a first time. OK, I'm prejudiced.

Yea i'm -1 in the front and full muzzy pipe .that's why i said unless the pipe and gearing wake up the 10.even with the extra weight the 12 just makes more torque and it's right there when you need it.for sure if we lived on a racetrack the 10 would clean the 12s clock. And i'm a kawi guy ,i would look at the 14 before the busa.

Bring it. My 10R makes more torque at idle than your little six makes at redline, and only weights about 30lbs more. Besides, the doors are already off

.....i need to stay in the 6 forum...its not like on a car site where all cars look different, and have same engine..
bikes all look the same, have totally different engines...hence..totally different in performance gaps..

i was.
but really. its the truth..i fell on this thread adn i wasnt even thinkin, and i started reading your post and then you was like how slow 6 is compare to ten..and it was like i was hit by a brick of realization...
like, not even perfomance parts can get me up there to a ten..its just less expensive to buy a ten...unlike a car...buy a cheap honda, spend a few grand you walk a vette..
with a bike, u upgrade the whole bike..

Whoa, whoa, whoa... Let's not go that far. You don't want to go stepping on to many toes around here. I think 185EZ will take exception to that as well as some other Vette owners and lovers such as myself.

Now, onto this 10R issue, I love my 07 10R. Find one of those and jump on it.

Indeed.
For a track bike, I would love a six, and feel 90% of the time the ten can't even stretch it's legs. But out on the street, torque is king!

Fix'd
Unless that Honda says "NSX" on it somewhere, spending a couple grand on it will only get you a grocery getter that's quick... for a Honda.

lol hate to throw things off, but a few grand in the right hands can make a cheap car way fast. This car is still untouched internally at taping. Howell performance turbo stage 2. So you figure what 4-5 grand total?

Neither the CFT teggie or that Neon only had a couple thousand dollars invested. With only the rarest of exceptions, you don't turn 15 second cars in to 10 second cars with a couple grand. Sorry, it just doesn't work that way.

I'm with Jess on that. You would have to put so much money into them that you would essentially have a Viper in terms of cost.

I'm a Healtech X-TRE fanboy now. With 2 or 3 up in the rear and a full Akra, watch out 12R. 175+ RWHP @ 12,400 rpm with increased torque in the 1st 3 gears. Equal riders the 10R is pulling ahead. Velocity stacks may push the power close to 180. i'll find out by Christmas. Present to me from Santa.

fine. you RITE, but thats not teh point...
you still come out waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper..than buying a vette or viper..
where areas, with bikes, u just go to upgrade the entire bike.

It cracks me up when i am out in my supercharged '05 Pontiac GTO (heads cam headers dual 3" x pipe exhaust) over 500 rwhp, and the turbo vtec hondas start on me LOL.
The Healtech XTRE helped my zx6r a bit as well. It runs the more aggressive 6th gear spark map and keeps the secondaries butterflies open.

Maybe they start up on you because of that funny 80's teased up hair of yours.
