Unless you're running higher-than-stock compression, anything over 93 octane is a waste of money. It can make a 14 or a 'busa run 9s and push 190. Why would you need race gas? I've also heard avgas has some nasty anti-freeze additives that can corrode soft parts in the fuel system like fuel lines, float needle tips and o-rings.

Hopefully they don't have any of those soft parts in airplanes.
Avgas is readily available here for the high perf boats and off road trucks. I use it for long term storage since it doesn't break down like regular gas. It's better than sta-bil and it smells alot better.

I run it in my muscle cars and it smells good and works great in the 11.5-12.1 compression motors. Just wondering if it would have a ill effect on a engine designed for unleaded.

If it doesn't screw up anything, the main ill effect would be to your wallet. The good thing would be......well, there isn't any.

I have a hanger at the airport so the fuel runs 2.55 a gallon. Beat that for 100 octane. Really is 103 octane by todays standards.

thought i would let you all know, there is an article on running race gas in sportbikes, and it is easily good for an extra 5hp to the rear wheel in your standard sport bike. I believe the article is in cycle world, i run race gas in both my 06 z1k and my zx12r, packs an extra punch, smells great, and turns the tip of your pipe white - love the smell of race gas in the morning.
