You are going to want to put the front fender back on. That does a great deal in keeping road junk out of the radiator and flinging crap all over. If you want something that looks a little nicer, look for a carbon fiber front fender, it will blend in a little better.
Have fun with the new bike, I just bought my 2001 ZX12R last summer, its a freaking amazing bike with limitless power and fun to be had. Be careful, and keep the shiny side up....
