Do I need a muzzy cooling fan?

I'm about to FINALLY put on my akrapovic exhaust. It's a full system and I was wondering if I would need a muzzy aluminum radiator fan? I know the muzzy system can melt the fan but do I need the aluminum fan with my akrapovic system?

Depends upon the shape of the exhaust, it's proximity to the fan and the type of riding you do. I would try it with the stock fan and keep a close eye on it for signs of plastic malformation from the heat. Your present pipes are single-wall tubing, so if no major hp-adding mods are planned, and you don't plan to do a lot of redline running (racing) I would think you could get by without the Muzzy fan blade.

I'm not planning on any nitrous or anything like that. Although I do intend on smoking some Hayabusa and the occasional track day at the drag strip.

Horsepower= heat. Long periods at idle or redline tend to exacerbate the buildup of heat and adding extra bhp means added heat. You could also wrap the headers to contain the heat within. Probably a lot cheaper than the fan blade. If your new header is titanium, that runs cooler than stainless or chrome-plated steel. My Ti slip-ons are cool enough to touch just a minute o two after stopping and shutting off the motor. Not so for the polished stainless midpipes.
