Well she done blowed up........

My 05 took a shit last night with only 9,000 miles on her. Oil light started to illuminate at idle and it started making a noise.
Tried to hobble her home but damn it locked up. So now what?
Buy a motor off ebay or rebuild? Sucks so bad wish I still had my Suzuki.

Drop a ZX-14 motor in the chassis. It's been done.

It may be a pig, but it's a pig with a rocket in it's ass!

zx12r motor: 83 by 55.4mm 1199cc 162 hp, 91 lbs/torque

zx14 84 by 61 mm 1352 cc 169 horsepower, 105 lbs/torque

dollar for dollar I could get a 1287 kit and Muzzy gauranteed 200RWHP with this set up.

So why the trouble with a swap?

But those 15 lb ft of torque are HUGE. My 12 is quite "tweeked" but was nothing compared to the torque of my 06 14. I'd be curious if the torque numbers on the 1287 kit. I'm convinced my 12 would out run my 14 on the top end, but torque is fun!

Builds in Progress
K ZX7R Superbike-ish
M ZX7R Crevier Superbike - Complete
M ZX7R Russell Superbike
N ZX7RR Yanagawa-ish Superbike
Z750S Frankenstein-ish bike

You could also end up with another hand grenade, but whatever.

The bike is a 05 with 9,000 miles on it. It started getting the oil light under hard braking, then at idle followed by a nice fucking lock up.

I'm still in shock but as we all know that stuff happens. As for now I found another motor for with 10,000 for 1500 bucks. I will install it for now and pull the bad motor for inspection. I'm guessing oil pump?

A zx14 motor is going for a least 4G so that means I could do the 220RWHP stroker for that. Easy.

Just saw one on Fleabay for $2300. Of course, if you built it with the stroker and big-bore, it would be much more.

Bummer! Let us know what you decide. Next time, when you see the oil light, shut it down now! Don't try to "limp it" somewhere.

Fixed. Swapped it for a low mileage motor off a 2003. Wasn't bad at all took me twenty hrs for the swap.

Hope I have better luck anyway.

I got one for 1400.00 from a 03 with 10,000 on the odometer. It was a direct fit although the cam position sensor was different because of the 16 bit computer in the older model.

Do I wheelie? Well I would have to say yes.

Do I wheelie for prolonged periods I would say no. No stand up's or anything.

You see the original owner put a Billet Pan on it and some how I think It's related.
Oil starvation somehow?

Hobbled it home AFTER the oil light came on. That would explain the problem. IMHO.

I agree totally, limping home with certain problems works but the oil light coming on and still riding it is a bad idea. Almost as bad as limping it home after the radiator hose blew.
